Greetings everybody,

I just purchased a new-in-box Tamiya TamTech BMW GTP. As a BMW fan I could hardly resist the purchase, and I was admittedly not expecting the seller to accept my low offer price.

Of course, the kit has been discontinued for some time, but I was wondering what sort of electronics would be suitable for this kit. The only references I could find either referred to items that were also long-discontinued or were for the later 1:12 scale cars. A search through the forum did not turn up a lot of information.

Are there any product lines that would suit a 1:24 scale RC car, or will 'standard' micro-sized electronics fit in the chassis? Any assistance/clarification would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to building another kit that was a bit before my time; I am told that was the best time for the hobby...

Thank you!

Edit: My apologies; I am no longer sure if I put this in the right forum... Please relocate as necessary

The Tamtechs came in two versions: one with radio gear, battery, and charger included, and one without. I think the assumption was that you'd buy the full version first, then add more cars to your fleet and swap the electronics over. It wasn't really meant for you to choose your own running gear.

There isn't really a "standard" electronics size or type for the micros, unfortunately. Most of them have the radio pretty well integrated, and it's unique to the car. Kyosho Mini-Z, Losi's micro series, and HPI's new 1:24 scale cars all use their own unique radio setup. You may be able to adapt one of them, but maybe not.

There do seem to be a few Tamtech fanatics around, so radio gear (or a worn-out car with good radio gear) might turn up either in the trades section on here, or on ebay.

these days modern radiogear is so small you can fit a featherweight microservo, 2.4 RX and tiny ESC in the same space

BITD the Kyosho Bajabugs used similar Futaba-sourced gear and there's also the Hanging-On Rider bikes

although most of the time ppl used Tamiya Tamtech radiogear in them as they were easier to find.
