^Those are the early version for the original Avante. Before Tamiya reinforced them when the updated the original Avante kit. I think the very first kits even had a gold colored version of those. A lot of changes were made to the 88 Avante.

The part number 50348 didn't change. Just the part itself was strengthened during the second run of original Avantes kits (before the Vanquish was released). 50xxx denotes replacement parts. Hop ups were numbered 53xxx. The verson you have pictured is the original non reinforced version. See here is the same package with the updated uprights.

Yes same part number.

The thinner original version (you have) was a little too weak for racing and would bend/break easily. The updated one is stronger. Geometry remains the same.

I think the original gold ones were even thinner (perhaps just prototypes). I wish I could still find the Japanese web-site that explained all the details. It's long gone now. ;)

Well, I notice you have hiked up the rear spring tension big time.

It may look good like that, but it will handle like dung.

first of all, the spring is soft type and not medium or stiff type

second, this is a Shelf-Queen model

Hahaha the Vajra, what a ridiculous name.

At least they didn't name it the vag.na! But it's pretty darn close.

I don't know if the comparison is apt, as I rather like vag.na.

Good point, most people do, even some women! I doubt you'll find a woman who enjoys the Vajra on the other hand.
