This weekend my children will be writting their letters to Santa. Naturally they'll be making a case for how good they've been this past year which, for the most part, is true. Typically they get to ask for 2-3 presents and so far between them these include a skate board, Hex Bugs, Wrestling figures, and Nintendo DS games :( ... What!!! Not a single Tamiya insight B)

Anyways, it got me thinking about my hobby, Tamiyaclub and what I would ask for from Santa this christmas if we were to write him a letter. Here's my list;

1. Dremel - without it I can't get my teeth into my F.A.W. project

2. A SWB Wild Willy (with period radio gear) - it would look ace next to my Sand Scorcher

3. A 2012 re-release Wild One (early) - well I have been really good this year :P

I'd be interested to know what you would ask for. To keep it within the 'rules' my kids are working to, 3 presents maximum, a reason why you would like it, oh and only Tamiya / RC related gifts allowed (to make up for my children's short-comings), i.e. something you would want to show-off on TC or use to improve your hobby-time

So come on guys, just for fun, what three items would you ask for???

Good idea, so what would I ask Father Christmas for?

1. Someone, somewhere to start producing the Subaru Legacy RS body complete with the Rothmans/Colin McRae decals, and to send me one, after all, who wouldn't want one on a TB01 or a DF03RA.

2. Mr T to announce the replacement for the Clodbuster, with an up to date Chevy body and an ESC that will run in crawler and speedy mode, along with diff locks included in the parts trees, because as much as I love my Clod, times have moved on and so should the king of the monster trucks.

3. A Kyosho Blizzard, so when the snow gets here, I can spend hours 'clearing the paths and gardens' and use it to build my snow and ice racing track.

Please Father Christmas,I have been good this year. ;-)

1. Ultrasonic parts cleaner - this one resides with Mrs Santa :D

2. an improved bank balance to fund my habit

3. my own warehouse of parts

not much really - perhaps i'd better not get my hopes up for 2 and 3 though.

Hmmmm...lets see...

1. Re-release of the original Clod Buster

2. Super Champ re-release

3. Bruiser or Mountaineer re-release

4. Egress re-release

5. more space and time to work on my models

6. Monster Beetle re-release (ORV chassis please!)

7. everybody gets/finds at least one model (vintage or new) that they've dearly wanted

It appears, with the exception of number 5 and 7, Mr. Tamiya can simply dress up in the ol' red suit and grant all my wishes.

Nice thread ;)

My wishes for Christmas:

1 - some new pool shoes - mine are geeting a bit worn

2 - a new bath robe - I don't like the colour of the old one

3 - For both my sister and my oldest neice to be less of a psycho hose beast & become reconciled - it would make Christmas dinner, and life in general, a lot less fraught :D

Tamiya-wise though, which is what you asked ...

1 - a re-re Sand Rover - be nice to thrash the behind off one, guilt free :)

2 - a "boxart" type front Scorcher bumper - just fancy one

3 - a re-re FAV - see reason for #1

And for ideal2k to get his wish

My wish list would be:

1. CNC mill so I can make bits faster and easier.

2. Tamiya to release a 1/10 County tractor to save me having to build one from scratch (I could find an excuse to buy at least 4 of these)

3. A black 1970 formula 455 ram air firebird in as new condition to transport myself and RCs in style to bashing / racing locations (With a years supply of unleaded of course!)

4. A gearbox man enough to fit in my 10kg 1/16th king tiger without it detonating within 5 mins run time.

And if I'm going to throw reality completely out of the window, a pound worth at least 2 bucks <_<

Posted

1 - a pillar drill

2 - a CNC machine

3 - a bigger house

4 - some better fabrication skills.

5 - Axial Exo Buggy (although I doubt it'll be out in time for Christmas)

*edit* and a 1:1 scale VW Baja.

Seriously? I thought your skills were pretty darn good already! As for the 1:1, you'd better get onto bug Box <_<

If the three items were actually three items and Tamiya/RC-related, my list would look like:

1. 2400 mAh battery

2. 2400 mAh battery

3. 2400 mAh battery

Currently, those are the only legal batteries at my local club races. Otherwise:

1. Three 2400 mAh batteries

2. Avante 2011 (or the return of a Le Mans class for TCS)

3. A place to submit the ideas I have for Tamiya's next product line (once I finish the drawings and renderings)

Number 3 can easily be switched out for ideal2k getting his wish.

Youre too kind! Personally I think they could improve, but I do know I have a tendancy to be overly self critical with such things.

As for the baja, it doesnt have to be a scorcher replica, or even a race going class 5, just a normal modded bug. Theres a uk club I used to be a member of that convert them and go green laning in them. It was through there that got me back into RC when someone did a 1.10 version of his owm car with a blitzer shell amd a hornet. I saw that and thought "i wonder what happened to my old monster beetle".

The rest, as they say, is history!
