Foam tires for mini m03

Recommended Posts

do any of you fine gents know if anyone makes 60d sized foam tires for mini's?

i have two cars that run 60d and we run on carpet, m-grips and s-grips are too "greasy", foam's would be best but the only foams i can find are 54mm, not 60mm.

with the 54mm you loose alot of top end speed.

yeah we don't race foams so m-chassis ain't gunna carry them :(

If u want foams for mini best bet is to get some 1/10 premounts

from gas tourers then true them down to about 2mm left on the wheel.

Seems wasteful but they'll last a fair while.

26mm width "front" fits fine, 30mm "rear" might need spacing out.

Here in the UK there are lots of racers using tyres intended for 1/12 oval cars, UFRA make them in about 20 different shore ratings, and there are a few smaller companies doing them too.

The wheels we use are 1 1/2" x 1" so quite close in size - I'm sorry I cant give you any web links, but I sell them! they are £4.40 a pair :(

foam donuts aren't hard to find, TC foam wheels aren't as common though.

Last ones I got were dishes from Speedmind I think.

when reshodding look for Pro10/235mm pan car rears, 1pr cuts neatly into 4x 26mm.

Lubricate your razor blade with water.

Suspect nobody glues tyres anymore, premounts so much more easier to find.

Ah the good old days.

not really, what a pain in the butt.

as for the original question, have you actually tried other brands of Mini rubber tires?

our club run only rubber, and I can get my M06 to grip roll pretty easily with Tamiya Rubber, but things like the Sweep pre mounts work really well.

Do the class rules allow for a gearing (pinion) change to compensate for the smaller 54mm wheels which would equate to the same top speed?

no, our race rules dictate only max 20t pinion and stock internal gearset.

(not allowed = 3rd party "speed" gearsets, 21/22t pinions by using just 1 motor screw)

can use 'any' MINI sized wheel & commercially available rubber tyre, just no fullsize touring car

was allowed to "double stuff" (2 inserts) your 60D tyres though

i'm already using a 20t (biggest you can get in there with two motor screws).

my m03 with a sport tuned and 60d's is alot faster then my buddies m03 with a 17.5 brushless with 54mm's, but i'm having trouble in the corners.

so far stock tires are working best on the carpet. i'm going to try sanding the m-grips and s-grips to see if they will come together because right now they have about 50 laps on them and they have terrible traction.

if we were all running 54mm it wouldn't be a big deal.
