When compared with other 25t - 27t motors, the GT Tuned is actually a very good little motor. Great in older 2WD buggys where too much power results in understeer like the Astute or Wild One. Sure, a Super Stock would have been a better kit option for the BS but if you are comparing the GT Tuned with lower turn motors or anything else you are not comparing apples with apples.

What 25-27T motors are you comparing it too? I imagine your thinking silver can & sport tuned? I have a whole case full of Trinity Co27 27T race motors that stomp on My RZ & TZ. They didn't cost any more than a base GT Tuned. I see what your saying, but it simply isn't a very relevent motor. I feel the whole design was meant to take advantage of noobs pocketbooks.

Personally I feel they should have done what they did with the Dyna Storm re-re (except with ball bearings). Take their current motor design, stuff a special armature in it, and paint it a special color. Wouldn't it have been 100 times cooler if they had a 19T motor painted metallic gold with no sticker whatsoever? They just leave the silly 104BK out and leave the price the same. Now that would be something special. :)

Tamiya seems to be stuck on selling kits with complete electronics packages (just add radio), and I'm sure that's why they went with the GT Tuned. With a high-performance kit like this, it kinda doesn't make sense. Oh well.

Yeah I was thinking silver can or sport tuned and likewise the GT Tuned is a budget motor ($25) for a high end kit.

You are right and it would be nice to see a real high power system supplied with a Tamiya high end kit. We will keep waiting :)

Finally got mine from Tower today. They just got them in stock last week and it shipped from Nevada, so it took a week to arrive.

BTW, Tower has already run out of stock of the first shipment they got. Next shipment expected in early March.

Does anybody know of a BS instruction manual thats on the web? I'm after the pages on doing the bodywork.

I'm pretty sure they were shared earlier in this thread. The post was edited by moderators  , but someones reply still has the link.

TamiyaUSA changed product status to "discontinued" today. They never even received any kit specific spares. Looks like the BS has come and gone. :)

I'm really glad I took the plunge for one immediately now. Sounds to me like production of the standard Avante will now be wound down too and will probably be discontinued before the year is out.

I just ordered mine, I couldnt resist anymore. Im going to use it as a runner with the brushless (4.5KV Novak from my brokem TF EVO (darn rear shock tower mount x 3)), im going to replace all the metal parts with Vanquish/Vajra/Egress parts. What is the part number for the Vanquish/Vajra/Egress part that replaces the crash resistant part on the front of the Avante?

Never mind, I found the part numbers on the Tamiya Usa Vajra build, they are N1 and N7.

You are really going to replace the metal parts for the plastic? Thats part of the draw to the Avante for me!!

I would have gone the other way and bought a cheap Vajra and turned that in an Avante/Egress runner. In fact, thats exactly what I'm doing right now :)

Im just using the plastic parts for this season when I use it as a runner. I love the gorgeous metal parts BUT I dont want to bend or tarnish them so the Eress/Vanquish/Vajra ones are going on in their place.

I just built the diffs last night, wow what a great modern design, worlds better thant he Egress/Astute/King Cab type. I hope if Tamiya re/res the astute that they utilize that design.

If you get stuck on this part or can't get the "N" parts tree from the Vajra, let me know ;)

Thanks but I was able to order all the parts from Tamiya to include the N parts. I just installed my 8.5 KV Novak in chassis, I had to sand off a little but off of the top deck, I guess brushless are a little fatter than brushed motors. If you go to a really small pinion, say a 18 you probably wouldnt have to. It barely didnt fit.

I notice that Stella have managed to source some more of these kits, albeit the Japan spec ones without the ESC or bonus parts and at a slightly higher price than when it was first released. Unless of course the kit was never actually discontinued in Japan. Certainly, some spare parts like wheels & decals keep becoming available on ebay so who knows?

I'm surprised that you didn't get one the first time around. :)

As for the Hi-Caps, I think for the foreseeable future the only way to source them will be by raiding Egress kits.
