VW Type 2 Wheelie WR-02

Not me, it does absolutely nothing for me. It just looks ridiculously misproportioned.

Haha! They are great!

Fair play, that's an excellent way of marketing them too.

The top half looks great, but under the body the huge chunks of black plastic just make it look like a kids toy...

I so want to like it, but looking at the photos on Tamiyablog.com the scaffolding to hold the Willy driver figure in position just looks such an afterthought.

I am considering getting one of these next week and with fusion hobbies offering a £50 discount it comes in at £119, and all you subbies get your 10% as well. It would be rude not to I think.

Does anyone know what pitch pinion I need to order?

Oh, man... I always get this wrong... 0.8 mod? It's what us dumb Americans call "metric 48 pitch."

I still like this thing a lot, but I can't help but notice that the WW2 is still around, with a hard body, for cheaper, at least from Tower.

Thanks Mark, In the U.K the WW is £149 for the kit or £167 for the RTR which makes the RTR an attractive buy but I am into vw's and with the £50 off the vw kit it makes this offer too good to miss.

Are you sure about that markbt73?, because I am going to order later today.

To convert "mod" to "pitch", take 25.4 and divide it by the "mod."

Example: Convert 0.8 mod to pitch. 25.4 / 0.8 = 31.75 pitch

To convert "pitch" to "mod", take 25.4 and divide it by "pitch."

Exampe: Convert 48 pitch to mod. 25.4 / 48 = 0.529 mod.

Sometimes people will use 32 pitch gears in 0.8 mod applications, or 48 pitch gears in 0.5 mod applications, because they are relatively close to each other. This is not a good practice because the force that is normally distributed across multiple meshing teeth is suddenly focused on one tooth at a time. This will cause extra noise and extra wear on the weaker material of the two gears.

The best practice is to always match gear pitch exactly, pitch to pitch, or mod to mod.

WR02 uses "AV" gears = 0.6mod

don't mix 06mod with anything else, ever

Thanks Willychang, I made the order all ready but I have just e-mailed Joanne at Fusion Hobbies so hopefully it's not too late to change the order.

I should have trusted Markbt73 when he said he always gets it wrong.

Also thanks to Speedy_W_beans, thats a very handy piece of information.Edit, Fusion didn't have the pinions anyway. I have looked around and I am struggling to fing them anywhere.

There are several sellers on eBay who have the .6 metric RRP pinions in 18&20T

Does anyone have information on the length on the Wheel Base of the VW Bus body??? Thanks! Kevin

if you mean the actual wheelbase of the body itself (like a street version) it's only about 175mm-ish. pretty short!
