Brushless Tamiya SRB - including slipper clutch, ball diff etc all electrics in and tested weeks ago, just need to cut the Kamtec Baja body and paint

Tamiya Super Champ restoration - been collecting parts, and today,a lovely complete body arrived - i think i now have everything i need for this project

Tamiya Nitro Thunder - being converted to 9T brushless > stripped it down, cleaned it all, boxed all the parts up in a recent shed tidy, leaves me to concentrate on other projects for now

Collect RC10T3 basher and Madcap from my mate - future projects ! > no change B)

Strip, clean and rebuild my Durga that's sat for 6 months without attention > no change :P

Traxxas 1/16 Slash- arrived and needed nothing bar a battery charge -run regularly, love its compact use anywhere nature

Tidy up King Cab, run it a few times and then sell it on.... COMPLETE - sold it on a few weeks ago.

....and probably the easiset one of the lot and the one i've put off for 6 months..

.. decal the TA03RS 911GT1 > no change ;)

Glad to see some progress Percymon! I finished a few of mine so far. The King Cab project is stalled at the moment. The Pajero is still in progress and the Super Shot purchase will get pushed back for a Bruiser purchase (now that was unforseen when I statred this thread! B) )

Got to rebuild my Top Force that has sat in 1000 pieces for a week.

Strip my RC10, order new body/decals and a couple extra bits.

I've promised myself not to buy anything till they are done, buy there is something serious on my watch list that I need B)

Four months on I thought i'd check progress on my new years project list - if i'm completely honest I've lost interest in RC of late; not sure why but perhaps I need a break or some inspiration lol! Maybe this review will push me along a bit

Ok, lets see how i'm getting on then..

From the original list..

  1. Tamiya Monster Beetle restoration - all parts cleaned ready for rebuild, body needs some minor repairs - still zero progress this year
  2. Tamiya TL-01 based Bowler Wildcat, using a Kamtec ABS shell - 99% complete but been parked on the shelf for months with no attention
  3. Brushless Tamiya SRB - including slipper clutch, ball diff etc - no progress since last update, really all i need to do is sort out the body (even have the parts sprue) as the electrics are done.
  4. Tamiya Super Champ restoration - I have everything in place for this, but its still tucked away in its Beatties bag :(
  5. Nitro Thunder - being converted to 9T brushless - no progress, just waiting for rebuild :o
  6. Tamiya Bear Hawk - COMPLETE ! Its even been run (once !!)
  7. Collect RC10T3 basher and Madcap from my mate - future projects ! > no change, he's in Singapore for the next month too :(
  8. Strip, clean and rebuild my Durga that's sat for 6 months without attention > no change still :(
  9. Traxxas 1/16 Slash- having given it plenty of bashing, its now converted to a mini e-Revo with 2.2 HPI truck wheels and Pro-Line Road Rage tyres.
  10. Decal the TA03RS 911GT1 > never happened, sold to another TC member a month or two back (hopefully the third owner will complete it !)

Other items this year

1. stripped and rebuilt/repainted the Egress - my shelf queen :D

2. bought an original Avante - stripped paint from body, replaced a few incorrect parts and now a shelfer :D

3. bought a TA01 chassis, stripped, cleaned and rebuilt as a drift car

4. restored the Kyosho Gallop Mk2 I was given for Valentines

5. bought a Mk1 Gallop and a Progress - no progress with those :(

6. built Avante 2001 from a series of used part lots, ***** bodyset and some new parts - don't ask how much ! :o

7. bought some Supershot parts as a lot - enough to build a hybrid supershot/hotshot hybrid with other spares i had lying around

2012 Sold..

Duratrax Evader buggy

Nissan King Cab

TA03RS 911GT1

Modified King Blackfoot

Rough Rider

Raybrig NSX - never had any interest in this for some reason, LupoGTIboy should put the chassis parts to some use

Grasshopper II

Fire Dragon - sold off as parts (bad buy)

2012 Bought..

Fire Dragon - pile of rubbish !

58519 Bruiser NIB

Original Avante runner

Avante 2001 in parts

Vintage Kyosho Progress 4WDS

Vintage Kyosho Gallop Mk I 4WDS

Supershot chassis part lot

TA01 chassis

So overall there has been some progress, some departures and almost as many incomings - no wonder the RC shed and shelves seem to be just as populated as before lol!

It's time i concentrated on my original list - perhaps I should concentrate on finishing the brushless SRB and rebuild the Monster Beetle at least to chassis level , relatively easy projects. Then the Durga which is more complex and of longer duration.

I've decided I need to be more focussed on my approach, so here is my worklist for the next 4 weeks (well thats the theory anyway  )..

Complete Twin Detonator rebuild - just waiting on alloy shocks and roll cage to arrive so that should be an easy deadline

Complete Monster Beetle rebuild - just the body add-ons to go really, hopefully again an easy deadline

Rebuild Wild Willy 2 - chassis needs reassembly and two bodies to sort, one army, one in civvy guise

Now if i can stop buying more projects i reckon i still then have a chance of getting the brushless SRB and Bowler finally finished before Xmas, leaving the Durga as a nice chassis rebuild at year end. That still leaves plenty for 2013 lol!

i'm glad to see it's not just me that looks at other projects before completing one! i have loads to do, finish the shell and ESC installation on my Clod, rebuild my NDF-01T (including engine), rebuild my FF01, cut down and rebuild a TL-01 (which i've dubbed TM-01) and sort out at least three if not more bodyshells.

I've got to the point that buying new projects is now pointless, there is barely any room to store them in component form, never mind part/fully built. If i put more shelves up the other half will have a fit at the number of cars too :(

Excluding the madcap and RC10T3 that are still with my mate, I reckon ca 50 hours work to finish all items in the first list. Then 6 hours to strip, clean and rebuild the Gallop MkI and maybe 20 hours to sort the Progress. Madcap and RC10T3 should be about 5 hours each.

Now if only i didn't work things would be much easier :P

I have a light workload for the winter, down to getting the Astute running again, sourcing box-art wheels and tires, painting a repro shell, and maybe weatherproofing the Avante for winter running.

In the meantime, I will be following Percymon!

The winter plan is a king tiger with all the bells and whistles. It's not a small project or a small RC so that's my thinking behind making some room. Other than that it's waterproof a 18B and detail the unimog.

1. Get the Jero running.

2. Spray up a new body for the Lunchy and fit the Adj suspension mount.

3. Get the 959 resto underway (waiting on Santa to bring me some parts).

4. Trick up my newly acquired Astute.

5. Build the Warsteiner M3 that's been NIB for 18 months; might be a birthday job on Boxing Day when I can "do what I like" (her words, not mine) ;).

6. Avoid buying new projects (although really want an MB or a BF and a SuperClod for christmas),

1,2,4 and 5 should be fairly easily done. 3 in the new yr. 6 is **** near impossible.

Yeah I'm into my 3rd "totally the last one" kit.

Well, let's see...

1. Fitting all the good hop-up stuff (hardened diff outdrives, universal driveshafts and alloy front damper stay) to my Sand Viper. Simple job.

2. Mounting a Mad Fighter body on the Sand Viper chassis. Should be looking similar to this one: http://www.tamiyaclu...92773&sid=28686

3. Finish off painting the Kyosho Sandmaster EZ driver figure and find something to make the motor cover sand tight. Easy.

4. Decide a paint scheme and decals for the Bush Devil-based Monster Beetle conversion. Still unsure about that, while chassis is already done.

5. Finish the Mad Bull's bodyshell, which is 99% done.

6. Getting my GF's Super Fighter G bodyshell painted. But not before she has finished building the rolling chassis. :) Will have to see where I can get custom decals printed. Any suggestions?

7. Finish the front suspension of the re-re Holiday Buggy narrow conversion. Have to modify the front arms a 2nd time. :(

8. Building and painting the King Blackfoot. I don't know if this will be done in 2012.

9. Finish the re-re Hotshot build. Still stuck at painting the driver which is fixed on the upper half of the monocoque chassis.

So there's a lot to do. ^_^

Mate, I would edit your post with some deletions if I were you. I copped a warning point this week just for mentioning that seller and I didn't provide a link either.

Sorry guys but you can't even mention that seller I've discovered.

I held out for 32 hours.

I shall be putting the BF right at the back of the garage out of harms way until I get round to it.

Had a bit of carnage here in anticipation of winter setting in. I currently have 18 runners and that will probably be 16 before very long. I wanted to stabilize the numbers before moving forward and shelving some of them. It was also a debate of whether a 6 foot or 9 foot shelf would be needed. It'll be 9 feet and all shelf queens are devoid of any means of propulsion. I have a stack of parts and batteries I can't hardly believe.

I also located a Tamiya shelf queen tank that's possibly for sale. No word on price yet so we shall see what happens. I also think a XJR will be getting a chassis make over while the snow flies. The other one is shelved so it doesn't get altered.

5 days on I'm doing well

Only my Willys to concentrate on for the next week or so.

We are expecting our 2nd child in January which is my most important winter project. It also means I'm having to give up the corner of the junk room where I keep my cars to turn it into a bedroom.

Good news is the boss has allowed me a corner of the dining room as long as I re-decorate.

I'm also starting RC racing again locally. My stead will be a Sakura S.

Hmmm - time is slipping away ! - after 4 weeks I'm still on body #1, albeit the end is in sight :D Body #2 design is still undecided (good excuse ;) )

I blame the Top Force distracting me

Great stuff GregM, and at least some of your remaining items are smallish details that can be done indoors on dark, damp nights.

I just realised my Madcap and my RC10T3 (supposed winter 11/12 basher) are still at my mates :(

Yes, building will be fun and fine during the cold winter. But painting won't... I'll see myself ending up with a lot of rolling chassis but unfinished bodies till the beginning of spring 2013.

I think it was Skottoman who recommended doing the body painting first with a new kit, as its the part that takes time and its always frustrating having a new chassis sat there with no body. If you don't have a room or garage to spray in, you have pretty much had it for this year, unless you get a very mild weekend.
