they will come down in price when they make another run of them and then we can all stock up and sell them for a profit when they become scarce again. I really can't believe the prices of them right now. Just crazy!

OSR

It is a Limited Edition part, so not sure if they will make another batch.

I think, as you would expect, the very high price achieved the other day of £137 was followed by lots of NIP Diff's being listed by various sellers (funny how apparently 'rare' parts soon start to appear once the price rockets!!). As a result the prices seem to have settled to around half of that high figure or less now that they are less 'rare'. Still can't believe the £137 though!

Yeah would think that be the case well I am not selling mine yet not that desperate for cash. I am tempted to keep in NIP though for future maybe. Must remember where it is lol and keep it pristine. I for sure did not think this item be in demand yet!

Just shows at least 2 people wanted it badly enough to keep bidding to that level. I'd have pulled out at £50 myself, there's bound to be the odd one kicking around in the next few months. They aren't that great an upgrade anyway, to some the solid axles was more in character with the car anyway.

It seems they do no longer have it in stock... is anyone aware of any shop that still has them, or are they just available on ebay now?

Do you think Tamiya is going to make another series of these ball diff sets? It is an 84... order number, which is usually reserved for strictly limited kits or parts, so I am wondering...!?

At the minute the only ones i can find are on e bay . These are fetching silly money but the stock is without daught getting very hard to find . Give Vellrip in singapore a try . Even if they show no stock its worth a e mail as their online stock is sometimes wrong .

Glad I brought 5 NIP ones when they were released and have an original built one (Laying around somewhere).

I tried looking several months back for another few packets but they had vanished from ebay ,seems I purchased at the right time .

Just noticed one on ebay selling out of Singapore for BIN US$95.00 + Postage

There are also some people who have built their own SRB diffs with existing Tamiya parts, and not just ball diffs, also gear diffs. I recall TA-Mark even built a slipper clutch in his SRB, so everything is possible if you want it in there. After all before the re-re of the SRB things 'often' weren't available off the shelf :o

As you can see, if you can handle a Dremel and/or know someone with a lathe, a project like this is affordable - cheaper than the price of a new Tamiya ball diff it seems - and loads of fun!

Do you think there is a chance Tamiya is going to make them again?

Don't believe the hype. I am sure that if tamiya re-releases any more SRB platform types of buggies they will re-release them again. In fact if you look at ebay right now there are several of them at lower prices then the lst few weeks. Here is a link to help you get through the malarky of them not doing a re-release of these. They will.

lololol

IMO the tamiya ball diff for the SRB is a piece of junk . Its a PITA to adjust correctly . I ended up using thread lock to stop the thing coming undone all the time . At best it can cope with a sport tuned . not worth even £20 let alone the prices these go for . I keep look at a blitzer diff and wondering if i could modify the srb case to fit one rather than doing Marks mod .

i agree . dont waste your money on them as they aint smooth like a ball diff should be plus to get a good launch you have to do it up tight so your turning circle is only slighty better than the stock direct drive ............ save your money and find a proper thorp diff . well worth the money ...... gutted i sold mine !!!!!!!!!!!!

What surface do you plan on running on? If you're running on sand, you don't need the ball diff, in fact it will make it run poorly.

I have RA 1028 diff in mine, which is a copy of the throp diff. I think it's a nicely made diff, good quality. With that said, the next time I open up the gear box, Im going back to solid axle.. Because I mostly run mine on sand.

Looks like Tamiya must have released a new batch. You can order them direct from tamiya america now. I'll have to get one next month.

My Scorcher doesn't really run all that great in deep loose sand but is a blast in wet sand :)

There are so many diffs now... From experience they are not the easiest to work with, but set up right they can perform very well. The bigger problem is the positive rear camber; any positive effect the diff has on handling, especially cornering, is negated due to the minuscule contact patch of the rear tires.
