Anyone try fitting the Pro-line Trencher 2.8 (Traxxas bead) on a Vanessa's Lunchbox?

The stock tires are about 4.3 inches overall diameter, fitted on 1.9 inch wheel.

The Trenchers are about 4.87 inches on the 2.8 wheels.

I'm wondering whether the Trenchers aren't too big in terms of appearance. I'm looking for good replacement tires for the LB, but don't want to stick something on the LB that'll look bad or kill the handling.

I've tried the stock Jato (Traxxas Victory) tires and they look good in one way but in another way they make the LB look 1/12 scale, which is what the LB is, but not to my taste. But most of all, with the Victory tires, the LB's handling is chaotic and very harsh due to the fact that the Victorys lack that oversized, shock-absorbing, squeezable rubbery depth of the LB's stock. With the Victorys on, every bump, pebble or rock on an offroad terrain has the potential to send the LB into a harsh chaotic cartwheel.

The trenchers are nice and bulgey like the LB stock, but I'm worried it'll look too big.

Anyone have experience with these? Or what do you all think?

I don't know about any Traxxas tyres, but I have Stadium Blitzer rims and Proline Dirt works tyres on mine. In my opinion this combo looks good, and performs better than standard.

Yello,

i have some tires/rims here for my slash same size as the trenchers you asked about ,do you want me to mock them up on my lunchbox so you can see the size?

cherryman3,

That would be more than awesome.

If they look good, then I'll spoil myself a little next month and buy two pairs mounted on the black Desperado Proline wheels.

But I'm betting they're going to look ridiculous.

Any pics? I'd love to see what they look like. I trust they do perform better. But one thing I like about the LB stock is the road noise they make when they are kicking up gravel or doing 180 turns on brakes, etc.. There's a nice up-scale sound to them that is charming.

But anyway, I'm rambling.

Keep the suggestions coming. I'll post pics of my LB with Jato's Victory's on.

I recently finished painting a new shell. And although the decals are done too, I'll need to take them down soon and replace them with proper decal paper as the ones I have on them are too thick. (BTW, what's the ideal decal paper for RCs? I made a quick purchase with Staples sticker paper and some clear coat/sealer -- they're not going to last.)

chevyman3,

Except for the width, those look pretty good. But the Trenchers are definitely bigger. The tires you have seem to be 4.2-4.5 inches overall diameter, on 2.2 wheels. The Trencher's I'm looking at would round out at 5 inches and be as wide as the LB's.

But thanks!

BTW, if you are interested, if those wheels have 12 mm hex for the rear or drive wheels, then you'd be able to fit them onto your LB using HPI hex adaptors and, for the front, HPI collars. They're both pretty cheap items. You'll need to do minor cutting to remove the center top portion of the hex that exists on the HPI adapters, though. I used a parts-tree cutter.

The part number for collar set is : B000BLM3ZI

And the number for the hex adaptors is: B000BLJ3LU or HPI6120

Those look good. I don't mind smaller tires if they don't kill handling on the LB.

And here are the dimensions of the tires:

Specifications:

Inner Diameter: 56mm (2.2")

Outer Diameter: 94mm (3.7")

Width: 50mm (1.97")

Weight : 82g

-- Love the LB shell. Looks very 'chillax' and at home at the beach.

I don't want to spend 60 dollars on tires. But I'm willing to spend 35 on them. I might just buy two pairs of Trenchers and then bake off the Victorys on the Jato wheels that I have and see how that goes.

Here's an LB on Monster Beetle wheels and tires:

SPECS:

Height: 5" = 115mm

Width: 2 3/8" = 60mm

Tires fit 2.2" truck rims

Looks boss.

I've ordered a set of Trenchers on Desperados.

In the meantime, here's my LB on Jato Victorys (coming directly from a wet backyard bash and placed next to a cheesy little pot light I have :) ):

I don't have pictures as of yet, but the Trenchers are too big.

From a practical stand point, the tires are too big because they would rub against the shock springs and body-shell wheel wells at certain points.

From another standpoint, the tires are visually too big. They look cartoonishly big and mismatched on the LB, even though on paper they're only a half inch bigger in diameter than the LB stock.

Anyeone interested in a pair of Proline Trenchers on 2.8 Desperado wheels? I can sell the pair that I have for cheap if you live in the US.

I must say that is one of the more interesting paint/decal schemes i have seen. What are all them symbols on the body?

Thank you, chevyman3.

The main symbol is ancient chinese and it means "Yellow". It can also mean "Golden" and also, colloquially, "Erotic." I think it's appropriate considering Vanessa's Lunch Box is typically yellow or golden.

I also have a Darwin fish there. The rest are your usual car parts logos-Valvoline, Moog, Champion. But I also have a few cultural logos there too-National Public Radio, Nike and even Playboy (which are found on the headlights), and I have the words "Amor Fati" there as an allusion to an idea found in the writings of Nietzsche, a German philosopher. In the context of his work, in the simplest terms, "amor fati" is love of one's fate - the will that one love one's life in such a way that one would have it recur throughout eternity, mistakes and everything else included.

I'll be redoing the stickers with vinyl ones since I used paper stickers above since those were the only ones available to me at the time. I'd also like to get a bed of skulls on the top front of the LB.

That's my project, and once I'm done with this LB I hope my addiction to RC will be done till another particular Re-release happens. I'm hoping for the Tamiya King Cab. I've always wanted one of those. And if I can't wait for that I'll probably get a Beetle Blitzer.

Here's the LB with the Trencher tires on one side. I only have the tires for the front (non drive wheels). So I can't run these tires. I got the pair for cheap- opened but unused off Ebay- so I don't regret buying them.

Tell me what you guys think:

Even despite the size, even knowing that the Trenchers can have some clearance problems, I'm tempted to buy the rears and run them. I think I'm crazy. B)

I got the rear drive trenchers on and ran them. First of all, the Lunch Box looks pretty darn good with these tires on. But they do have some minor clearance issues. The fronts can rub against the body and coils when the shocks are compressed. And, also, the right rear can rub against the motor wires. I was able to solve this last problem by tucking the wires in as much as possible.

Anyway, the Trenchers do great in thick foliage and rough terrain, and so they make for great offroad and snow tires. But because of the height difference, the wheelie bar becomes useless and the LB is much more prone to roll over. Overall, despite everything, I'm glad I bought the set. I love the look of the tires on the LB.
