I love this car.

I bought my Midnight Pumpkin when I was still a kid and I played so much with it that I had to restore it.

So, when I tought I'll never play again with RC Cars I restored my Midnight because I wanted to keep it forever (I wanted to sell all my other cars).

Well, what I want to say is that i can hardly remember any part on my MP that is still original. I think apart from the tyres I replaced everypart (Chassis, Gear(box), Body, Rims, .... anything).

BUT ....... there is one thing I hate about this car:

PART: BR4 -> Axle spring

Look at manual 58070 for Midnight Pumpkin -> Page 9 Step 16

This spring wears out very quick.

[:(]

My Midnight Pumpkin has full ballbearings, ESC, Mabuchi RS540VZ, working head and tail lights, oil shocks.

For almost 4 years after i restored it my MP stood only in the vitrine but since 2 years I started running it again.

Please help me. What can I do to replace the axle spring. I think my MP is not able to do nice wheelies anymore because the spring is missing.

Well, my Pumpkin still does short wheelies.

I am not sure if there is a wheelie difference with or without the body. (of course it runs better without the body)

Thank you for the link, maybe I ll ask a frind of mine who lives in the US if he could send me the parts (or I will try to make new springs on my own).

When the Pumpkin was new it did wheelies all the time. I just had to accelerate.

Since it has oil shocks it is more difficult to do wheelies.

It works best the way you discribe it (roll backward slowly and accelerate).

EDIT:

Do you now a good looking lexan body for running ( I don't want to damage the original one). It has to be 53 Ford F100 or sth that looks like the Vannessa's Lunchbox Body.[^]

Until about a month or 2 ago, they had the real tamiya Pumpkin body too. It seems to be gone now however.

with that RS540VZ it should be hard not to wheelie. My pumpkin with a 15turn mod motor wheelies all the time. I have seen some people install screws to fix the transmission mount so that it locks it in place. This way you can eliminate the springs. I don't they do much anyway as they are too weak. The lexan pumpkin shell is still available. Lunchbox shells will require some one with enough captial to cover the initial cost of producing 25.

@Bholio:

I searched the tower hobbies page yesterday and found the pumpkin body, bad luck of mine that it is not available anymore. A friend of mine has a (wrecked) Lunchbox. I am sure he would like to buy a Lunchbox or Midnight Pumpkin Body too.

@Shodog:

I think my combo is really great for a fun car. I love it.

Fully ballraced, oil shocks, ESC and the RX540VZ. [;)]

My Pumpkin really rocks and if you know how to drive it it does not roll over. Of course it wheelies all the time if I am not cautios with the throttle.

Hi,

in case that someone will be interested:

I've replaced my standard springs at the rear axle mount with strong coil springs that fit exactly into the remaining space. Then I drilled a hole through the mounts and fixed the coils springs with a cable tie. I did this with my (now sold) runner.

@UrbanWarrior:

[:P]Do you have a picture where I can what you did?

Someone told me to use the coil springs of a ball-pen (Kugelschreiber in german).

But I am not sure how this should work.
