Bruiser 2012 (spy photo from Nuremberg Toy Fair 2012

Recommended Posts

Wow really cool you could go to show, bet it was great to see for real!

- I see maybe screwed from inside or glued on.

- most likely is the TLU-02 and 01 units i bet.

- you got to have a go!

Makes it about £497 then eeek!

I think thats actually a very good price converted to GBP! ;) The normal price is EUR 800.00 in Germany.

No pics?? Christian, shame on you! At least a little bit :D Just kidding..
Its not allowed to take pics, although I did the last years. There are already so many pics around.

Apart from the Tamiya news, there was not much other exciting stuff at the fair. Was rather dissappointing!

Just returned from the fair. Sorry no pics, but:

- The wing mirror is different at the base, it does not feature the little screw.

- The wiring of the Bruisers LEDs on the test track looked very DIY.

- It drives really nice with the diffs, shifting is a lot smoother than on the original.

Oh, and Seidel has it listed for EUR 599,99! >Click!<

Interesting to note that Seidel states that spare-parts for this model will not be sold separately ("Es handelt sich um ein Sammler-Modell, Ersatzteile sind

für dieses Modell leider nicht lieferbar !").

I sure hope not ...............................

No matter how much I want one of these (and I really do want one) there is no way I can justify £750 on a kit  plus then the £100 for 4 channel radio. I could clearly understand my wife killing me :D Perhaps if it was under £500 maybe just...........

Hopefully some may sell on their Hi-lifts so I may yet get a 3-Speed

Did you see vid of kids on trailers being pulled by 1/14th tractor trucks only in Japan I guess lol, the trailer must be motorised to!

Nah, they're powerful, my Toyota high lift can pull 45lbs (kid+steel radio flyer wagon) in 2nd gear on carpet. All stock except bearing and bigger tires.

I do wonder now that this new transmission has been created, together with the fact that it seems to have additional mounts that are not going to be used on the Bruiser, whether Tamiya are indeed planning on doing a similar job on the original Hilux and Blazer. Previously I had imagined that they were too antiquated to bring back but this new gearbox really changes all of that. It would be incredible if we saw a similar job done on the Hilux. Imagine seeing this kind of photo below at a toy fair in the near future but with the new transmission fitted.

They surely can't sell a kit like this and have no spares available??

Siedel is smoking way too many Afpel Strüdels. There is no way this would happen. Tamiya has never done this nor will they. It's unheard of in this industry and could even lead to lawsuits.

Wandy, you maybe right! I noticed a few days ago that towerhobbies has listed many of the parts

for F350, Hilix and Tundra as discontinued. TamiyaUSA is also out of stock on many of those parts. I do hope they release the original Hilux, I personally much prefer the bed of that body to the bruiser.

I also noticed the re-re bruiser has two suspension link rods that go back to rear axle.. Original did not have those.. Usually multilink conversions use those.

I dunno, the mounting tabs look pretty close to that of the High Lift series...

Either way, it looks like they are versatile enough for custom builds, which maybe Tamiya's intention. If I remember correctly Tamiya USA were selling Highlift axles and transmissions ala carte, so it's not hard to imagine they'll be doing the same with this gem^^

I'm guessing this is the transmission for the next generation of 3-speeds and big rigs, though possibly with plastic casing for 'lesser' models.

Good point; I hadn't thought of that. There's absolutely nothing stopping them from using a plastic gear housing.

I see they're already using plastic for the planetary reduction segment anyhow.

I forgive Tamiya for the sticker/manual debacle now.

Ha Ha! How quickly everyone forgets!

Would be great if this transmission does fit the hi-lift series.. It does sit higher up and has better clearance. However it only has one 4wd speed.... I'm not much of a scaler.. Do they only use 4 low?

Na, they're 4WD in all speeds, not that it's useful. Highlifts are so bouncy you wouldn't ever want to use 3rd gear in an off road setting.

How could you not grab one of these?

Forgiveness, yes for the manuals as they are back. It's gonna take more than a Bruiser for the stickers. But I am also easily persuaded.

I know the original had them, but I reckon it might look better without the trailing links. Are they really necessary?
