Hello all, I was thinking as we all know the scorcher had significant changes to it differing it to the original. Say Tamiya rerere it in 2040 with yet again changes to it, would that make you prefer the 2010 as it would now be a vintage and would differences to the 2040?

The more I think about the reres the more I think I welcome the changes to chassis where it is a update like the ss and bruiser, not of course the sand rover but thats just me :)

The changes make the models of the moment and if I should live that long they will have the same nostalgia that the originals do now taking me back to a lost time so maybe a 2010 ss and 2012 bruiser will mean more to me than an original as it is of that time period 2010s. What fun we had in the 10s?

Just a thought I'd like to hear what you think, just for fun.

Cheers skywhelp

Guess the 2040 models will come with a limited edition Tamiya syringe so you can add H2O to the fuelcell when it runs dry.

They'll probably look very much the same. You can still buy Carl Goldberg wooden airplane kits, but now you can get nice reliable OS engines (or brushless power) and 2.4g radios for them. And Lionel still makes train sets; they just don't smell like ozone anymore. If there is another round of Tamiya re-re-releases starting in 2040, they'll still be 540 powered and come with plastic bushings. They'll just connect to a set of electrodes implanted in your brain so you can control them by your thoughts. :)

And I wouldn't be surprised to see the Tamiya classic models still being the classics in 30 years. I just don't see the current RTR toy-like vehicles inspiring the same sort of nostalgia. Sadly, I also don't think there will be much for new converts to the fold; have you seen the current age of the guys in the model train section of the hobby shops? That's us in 30 years. Still tinkering around with Sand Scorchers and Hotshots, while the young guys shake their heads.

You got to think bigger guys. in 2040, everyone will be driving electric cars. Tamiya will have overtaken Ford and GM as the worlds largest manufacturer of electric vehicles :)

The Re-re scorcher and hotshot will be part of the 1:1 'nostalgic' area of the car dealers ;)

H20 fuel cells sounds good to me, mind control would be good but no chips for me thanks :0

When I was a kid train sets = grandfather I guess it's the same now, I wonder if I'll wake up one day and think that way, but I'm of the age when British Rail advert was 'We're getting there' I always though but never on time :)

I suppose I'm more Scaletrix I think that's how you spell it, slot cars any way. I don't yet have a hankering for a set, maybe some cars, oh no! ;)

I think now I'm back in rc is here to stay though, I'm already old enough to say 'when I were a lad, we had it so bad' with a semi-straight face :) Soon I'll be able to add 'You don't know how good you have it'.

2040: re-release the Durga? haha

I see the classics being updated further, thus bringing back the 'original' 2010-type models and skyrocketing the prices of the first kits to near-unattainable collectors' status. This is only thinking about the models like the Sand Scorcher; however if environmental science somehow found its way into the hobby on a larger scale... What if they replaced the metals with some sort of alloy which is more environmentally-friendly, but inferior in durability/performance/etc.? That is one very large change I could see happening, if enough younger and less-nostalgic hobbyists emerge.

In the meantime, though, that is very far-fetched, and so more likely we could be seeing re-designs of plastic classics like the Hotshot or the Avante-

(they already have... hmm)

2040 kids will say to you whats that toy you are playing look at our Tamiya spaceships.. Swooshing in the air.. lol.. ;)

No ! i'm sure the TT01 & the DT02 will be still going , If mr T had there way :) .

This is a great question . All i can think of is it would be solar power & motor's

that work efficiently with solar etc . "No plastic" Some organic material of sort .

Tamiya cars will still look the same , But modern electrics , materials .

Or virtual realty simulation ? . Computer set up , like the matrix movie . :) .

Just hope we get to see it ;) .

well was i was a kid in the 70's we were all supposed to have personal jet packs and car would run on water and they would fly by the year 2000. :)

"JANE!!! STOP THIS CRAZY THING!"

1.1 Cars will still run on gas just less of it and RC cars will still run on batteries just smaller and more powerfull in 2040 is my guess.

Judging by the difference in motor power (brushless) and run times (6500 Lipo's) and the new 100mph+ RC Supercar from Traxxas during my recent return to RC, my guess is that in 30 years time we will see the release of the 1/10 DeLorean that can go so fast it really will go back to the future and willl run for six days using one AA sized battery.

Well i'll be 70 - i may still have some of my SRBs and hopefully the Egress and avnte too - not sure they are allowed in the old peoples homes ??

Seriously though, todays kid's live in a throw away society, rarely to they see the point in keeping things nice - thye'd rather thrash and bash them, throw them away and move onto another the same or something different. I wonder how long the Truggy / Stadium Truck theme will stay around for ?

Tamiya will always make a cheap chassis for multiple road car type shells, whether it be the TT-06 or the M11.
