I thought I would start a thread on my M05 Pro Silver Edition build.

I now have the [parts and hop ups I ordered to get the build happening but first I thought I would put up the mock-up of the custom decals I am looking at making (borrowing from the Corolla WRC)

I have to resize some as the Mini’s body is so much smaller but I don’t mind the look. Just a bit of work in Photoshop to get rid of Toyota and a few other things but I think it will work

I will paint the body white and that will give me the white I need when printing the decals.

The Chassis I am about to start while I ponder the above

:o Not sure how it's going to look , so this is good ;) .

Well i am glad you are not going to paint it silver ;) .

Will be looking to see how this comes out .

So it could be a woohoo or the "dreaded " boo . LOL .

No pressure or anything ;) .

Too much Silver you think? :o

I have already had two Silver Minis over time. A Silver M01 and an M03 which Falcon#5 now takes care of. So as much as Silver is my favourite colour time for a change maybe?

Anywho I have got most of the car built and will post some pics up tomorrow night (getting way past my bed time to do it now) before I finish it except the electrics as they are still coming ;)

Just Dampers body posts and a few other bits to put on then I will turn my attention back to the body.

It has been a fun car to build with a few confusing steps of when to go to the extra instructions due to it being a Pro Special Edition but I do like all the silver parts as it makes a change from blue bling

That's why i said silver , as you had one B4 . ;) I did see falcon on here the other week , so he's still alive then :o .

Sounds good . But i like blue bling :o .

Ok here are some pics I thought I would post while the bubbles come out of the TRF Damper.

Matman these might also explain why I am thinking too much silver and why not to pain the car silver :)

Wow, that silver edition looks great!

I'd go orange with the body.... But that's just me.

Heck, perhaps I should get one of these, looks sweet! (But you also have a lot of hop ups!)

Cheers,

A lot of the hop ups are already in the kit. I only added the steering linkages, front up rights, servo link to the adjustable one and a couple other bits.

I have been thinking Orange with a white roof but still cannot decide. I now am waiting on the electrics to finish it off Chassis wise anyway.

Anyway some more progress pics

Some Blue Bling for the rear sway bar :D

I like the sound of the orange/white scheme.

But the silver/white looks sooo good. :)

I'll have the M03 hopped up shortly, so expect our Minis to be banging doors very soon!

PS, I'm not dead! (Just finances and time were) :D

Ok Body has now been done. I decided not to go with the Castrol but a cleaner look so it has a more of a street car come weekend racer look.

Just need to get the number decal for the door and it is done I think :D

Body cut & masked with black lines to help put the mask on :)

Red applied (Ferrari Red)

white roof painted

Silver grill, mask and proactive film removed

Still don’t have the racing rubber either so I am waiting for them to arrive.

I could do the black Wheels and tyres or the special chrome wheels that came with the kit for now but not sure if I want to take them out of the packaging

I had some orange paint for the Fox resto and I just didn't like the tone of the orange for the Mini.

As it stands still no orange car in my collection ;)

Wow, that looks great! Red is my favorite colour for cars!!!!! That classy silver chassis, and the clean and vintage look red/white is really great.

Like your build photos too, nice thread... Lovely mini, makes me want to restore one of my old chassis and build one up like this!

Keep the pix coming!

Cheers,

Yep spot on with the too much silver.... just plastic with the chassis except the bling parts... hard to tell what is and isn't plastic

I thought the same when at the LHS getting the paint but the street race/weekend racer would/could have a more traditional colour theme in this type of vintage car

I could have gone British Racing Green :)

I am really happy with it now and glad I went this way and not the Castrol theme.

Nice work mate!

Looks great in red, and that chassis is just sensational. ;)

Can't wait to see it on the track.

Me too I am hanging to get to the track with it.... Might see the silver M03 there soon too?

I just did a count of the hop up parts put in/supplied with this kit and I am over 20 that are not in the standard M05 kits.

I am glad there was a good number of them included in the kit to start with
