as subject, are there any micro RC that can be used outdoors offroad that work ok, or are they all generally better for lighter use?

tempted for a losi 1/32 monster truck style but wondering if they are any use on grass and suchlike.

1/18th is about as small as you can go on short lawned areas, althoguh hard packed dirt is OK.

I find my 1/16th Slash is fine unless it gets on wet mud off course, or long grass - its beauty is the robustness and the compact dimension for taking anywhere in a backpack

There are alot of cheap 1/16th / 1/18th bashers around too..

1:32 is a bit small for almost anywhere outdoors except sealed areas, and even then if it's dirty, then only tiny rocks. They don't have much ground clearance. Some plush carpets are even too thick for a 1:32 to run on. I can run my 1:32s down the sidewalk or on a tennis court no problems.

Being so small, and in dirt, the smallest of rocks will affect the direction of the model dramatically. Scale the terrain down, and they run over it quite good. Sieve clay to remove large clumps and rocks and then pack it down makes a good offroad surface to run 1:32 on. Standard the Losi's don't have dampers, only pogo-stick springs, so control over uneven surfaces can be unpredictable.

To run over unprepared offroad surfaces you'd want no smaller than 1:18 as already mentioned above.
