I had one of the fox knock offs. Its called Killer. Was an exact copy of fox, but had several upgrades. Gold aluminum roll cage, factory swaybars. Plastic was very brittle. I sold it at the LHS. Probably, its all busted up now, as it was sold as an RTR!

i'm still fairly new to buying vintage cars, so i have a few questions.

are these knockoffs easy to spot? i've been buying new in box stuff so i dont think the knockoffs will use the "tamiya" name on their boxes unless they want a bunch of lawyers on them.

are knockoffs mainly a problem with buying parts and or used vehicles?

Unless you're talking about Tomy Tomica Bit CharGs, dare say

any Tamiya knockoffs and clones are rare enough to be an oddity

and valid curio in its own right.

There are quite a few knockoff Mini4WDs though... some even have

some 'interesting' red & blue brandname logos heh heh heh... check

out the Audley (?) red-n-blue diamonds.

Local $2 shop had Mini4WDs from China which blind Freddy could tell were Hotshot, Hornet etc etc.

No red-n-blue-Stars logo, but they didn't even change the model name.

Have been happening for YEARS... there's even knockoffs

of the mini monsters too (Clod Jr etc). Some even have

gained wierd permutations... eg 6X6X6!! [:0]
