Anyone any ideas on ways to keep the motor in the topforce cool? I have have cut away the top of the housing and that has helped alot. I have also put a heatsink on the motor near the endbell. There must be something else i can do as its still too hot by the end of my 3300mah pack of cells.

I am running a top spec 27 turn stock motor from trinity "Revenge of the monster pro" Fantastic performance but at the end of the run it starts to overheat since all the motor housing is plastic. Yes i know it was never meant to have such high capacity batteries in etc but i am creating a highly modified one with all the trimmings. Light weight diffs, gear shafts, all universals bearings, heck, even light weight kingpins (1 gram lighter each!) [:D] (Must get around to ordering all the titanium steering rods at some point)

Any suggestion would be apreciated. I dont mind cutting stuff up or making modifications but i just that 1st idea to get me going.

I have a Terra Conqueror and I run 3300 packs but I have never really checked the motor for heat[xx(]maybe I should though before[:(]!!!...LOL

I think the TC body is a bit more exposed at the back because it is'nt a two piece body like the TF.

I assume you have the alloy motor mount so I guess one thing you could try is cutting some plastic sheet to make an air duct from above. A bit like a scoop kind of arrangement to bring air down around the motor.

Otherwise cut holes in the undercowling to get air fron underneath. I'm not over familiar with the fibre chassis and the body work arrangement but something like these ideas maybe the way to go.

Hi,

When I raced my Cat XL and XLS I cut a flap in the bodyshell that I lifted to force air down onto the motor. Don't know the top force shell but it worked well on the Cats![;)]

Alloy mount helps with some dissipation (and better gear mesh).

Also not uncommon to see 3mm 'computer' fans installed for cooling motors and ESC, might be worth trying. Anything 12V will run off your battery pack adeuately; current drain shouldn't be noticeable.
