Can anyone post some links that show pictures/descriptions/purpose of RCH/MIP/CRP SRB hop ups from back in the day. Shodogs showroom always had some superb examples but he has now removed it. An Internet trawl didn't come up with much beyond RCChopshop.

This monoshock RoughRider currently on the bay has an impressive array of what was around in the early 80's

Thanks OSR. The sway bars I find intriguing, the front ones look like a straightforward mod to do with the right materials and skills!

I have this: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...294&id=7812 original hopped-up Super Champ, and it features a few vintage "tuning bits".

I also have a NIP front sway bar for SRB, but never got around to fit it to anything yet.. Don´t think it does much for the handling anyway, so I might aswell keep it in it´s bag. <_<

As you mention, it will be pretty straight forward to make one yourself, as it is nothing more than a bend piece of piano-wire and a couple of cableties, lol..

Cheers.

I have this collection of parts so far, its all based on what was called a Taipan version1 which was sold by an Australian exporter back in the day.

photo-1.jpg

Its (front to back):

CRP butterfly chassis LWB

CRP Wide front axles

CRP shock brace (extra long)

RCH front Nylon arms

Kyosho Front/Rear (short) roll over shocks (depends if you want to run a mono shock)

JG Nerf Bars

CRP Rear cage with high shock mounts for longer shocks and rear stabiliser mounting screws

Standard Tamiya SRB Gearbox cut down - see motor more / light weight

SRB Ball diff

RCH Rear Arms

Hardened Rear UJs

CRP Wide rear Axles

Tamiya Holiday buggy rear tyres

Kyosho 1/8th Rear / Front shocks - these where the shock of choice to use in a Mono set up

CRP Rear stabiliser bar

I have a lexan RR shell for it and a period rear wing as well

I am really keen to get a set of RCH front nylon uprights but try as I have no one is selling them, I have about £100 waiting to be spent on a pair of good used ones and I will throw in a set of standard Tamiya uprights so you can keep running.

BTW I love these cars :(

I have a set of white nylon MIP uprights in good condition. I need a CRP/JG nerf cage, and MIGHT be willing to part with them in a swap.

Tom

Thanks Tom, I am just looking to buy so I can complete the car so swapping would not help me

really.

Cheers and good luck

Will 16,

Thanks for your post and the links. The Racing SRB's in the old days- couple questions thread is fascinating. As a result of all this I am going to start searching for 'Taipans' and sooner or later be parting with some cash......not the intention of my initial post at all!

The top 3 pictures in your post is the buggy on ebay as a BIN, if it hasn't been bought yet.

However impractical the 4WD system is something I hanker after, with access to CNC wonder if practical to recreate.

Cheers

Hi, heres a link to some pics of an original Pitstop Taipan I used to own. I bought the car from a TC member in Oz and sold it to a guy that used to race against it back in the 80's. I was going to build a replica and managed to find more than enough new parts for one car. I have pics of the parts somwhere. Not sure how to post so many pics here so I'll get the up in my showroom later.

Heres a link to some of the parts. The others will take a bit of sorting out. Hope they help.
