Recommended Posts

I've moved the posts discussing the ethics of hacking to this thread, to save it foggying the topic trying to get everything back up and running

Please read THIS THREAD thoroughly too

More than likely your site is on a server with more important information they are interested in.. They just took a dump of the entire server instead of wasting time picking and choosing, or someone they are interested in is a member here.... Have no fear though, anon. is here to protect us as citizens from the powers that be. They are not bad guys, they are just made out to be by the media. They don't hack it for profit, they hack to get information that people are hiding that they shouldn't be, then they expose them for what they really are. Heck they even got a chief member of the FBI to quit his job after they exposed him and his dirty secrets. Look into them if you are that curious I think you will be surprised. I would be flattered if I got hacked by an anon. member. We have nothing to hide, so carry on RC!

Right, so posting up email addresses and passwords of totally innocent people is something we should be ok with?

Would you be so 'flattered' if someone managed to empty your bank account because of these internet heroes?

on a lighter note, big thanks to Andy for sorting my front page log-in issue, all back and working fine now!

@prplehz - have you ever had your bank card cloned? its a major hassle, waiting for new cards to be issued, cancelling old ones, waiting for the bank to investigate then having to wait for the bank to refund YOUR money that someone else stole! This is the same thing. Its not big or clever, nor for the better of man, its just a big jolly-up for cretins with too much time on their hands. Look at the playstation network when that was hacked, they had access to all sorts of info, including bank details, where is that the right thing to do? I'm very thankful that the guys here caught on soon enough to stop any damage being done.

Amen - whilst there are no doubt some people using hacking for the benefit of others, posting a list of Tamiyaclub's members and passwords on a public website serves no purpose except to prove they could.

The implications for those members could've been far worse, and even moreso for possible buyers sending money to 'traders' trading on TC with hacked accounts etc. As Chris said, this came to light because a member discovered the list and let him know - had that not happened a lot of people could've lost a lot of money.

If the hackers wanted to prove they could 'do it' they only had to email anyone on TC the list for it to have the same effect, but for some reason it was necessary to post it online as a trophy - again, if you find this 'flattering' and acceptable prplehz you should probably talk to someone.

I was sat staring at one member's paypal balance for about 40 minutes trying to get hold of him or Netsmith, whilst wondering whether emptying his account into to mine (temporarily) was a good idea or not, knowing all that time that anyone else could just take his money, and max out his cards etc - if you think that's ok you're pretty messed up.

If you research them you will find out they aren't going to do didly with any info they got from tamiya club.. Sure like to see them drain my bank account, because I don't have a bank account, thank you very much....

I would think that posting the info on *public message boards* would allow *ANYONE* to do *pretty much what they wanted* with said info. No offense - but there are some serious holes in your "didly" theory.........

So the list of 400 email addresses and passwords dumped on an upload site for anyone to see was just an accident?

They may not have wanted to do anything with the info, but leaving it on a website for anyone to read is hardly the act of a 'protective' body.

It took me all of 15 minutes to go thru it, type every name and password into paypal and find that one person had used the same details for both sites - Had I been someone out for the cash, I coulda scored pretty bg that day.

Your admiration for hackers seems to have seriously clouded your judgement - The 'diddly' could've had massive consequences for at least one member here, or do you see that as collateral damage?

so you store all your money under a matress?

If they weren't going to do anything with the info they got from here, then what was the point of doing so? And post it all on the net for all to see? If you really believe these people are your 'internet' friends and doing this for the good of everyone, then you are more naive than anyone ever thought already....

Before anyone asks it wasn't me, but expect everyone appreciates how thoughtful that was to check emails/passwords against Paypal.

Though I am surprised that any member of Tamiyaclub takes the hacking of our site as a good thing. B)

:D

If it was uploaded then this site was not hacked by anon. it was somebody using their name. Anon. is a politically motivated group and could care less about us.. And I don't keep money, as it is worthless in it's own right. It is just given a value by the FED who creates as much as they want. And the FED is a privately owned company not part of the Gov. Keep precious metals and sell it as needed. But don't keep money itself, ever..

Yup, I don't see this 'progressing' much further either, we'll call it a day

Please keep the other topic free from discussion about hackers and only use it for getting things back to normal
