Which Battery For Scorcher

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been running a Venom 7.2v modified to hump-style to fit in my Scorcher, but I keep having to re-solder the Deans connectors as they have come loose from corrosion. (Too much beach action!)

Even then, they don't keep a reliable connection so basically it's a major PITA.

I'm hoping to find a good quality stock battery to do the job but after much searching here there doesn't seem to be too many choices.

I'm looking at this:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Venom-5-Cell-6V-420...#ht_2426wt_1017

or this:

http://www.etamiya.com/shop/tamiya-49171-t...ery-p-6819.html

Any thoughts on which will work better? Thanks!

Hi,,

I have the small Tamiya you mention that were released for the Tyrrell 6wheeler Formula..but its a NiCd so it will age sooner than a NiMh..your other choise is a 6V which will be slow..I found this one this one http://www.fusionhobbies.com/Carson-7-2v-N...ck-p/c55059.htm

Has good reviews and a brand name..

if you find any other idea let us know..!! :-)

Cheers,

Thanos

Nice one Thanos! That looks like what I need. If I can't find it anywhere in North America I'll order it. Bringing it into Canada makes it a little pricey but I haven't got much choice it seems.

Cheers,

Dave

i run my SRB & superchamp with LRP 7,2V 1600 Mah for 1/18 cars

they are smaller than classic 7.2V and goes into the radio box (SRB)

Enough for their standard motor :)

Thanks for the info. I didn't really want to go into lipo as I'm only running one car and can't really invest in a whole new battery system.

I've found a local battery specialist who is going to clean and re-solder my NiMH, so I'll give that a go and post results.

Its fairy easy to make a old style humpback pack lipo if you can solder . Open up the old case then make up a lipo to fit . Single lipo's are easy enough to get hold of or you can have one made up to order if your not confident about doing it yourself . If you want to stick with NiMH the same applys allowing you to make up a pack to the mAmp you require .

Ive just converted some old tamiya hump pack batteries, chucked the old cells and fitted a turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 25c lipo, there really cheap and fit perfect.
