Finally got my Sand Scorcher back from the repairers (wasn't going forwards, found out it had a faulty speed controller) and thought I'd give it a run, since it hasn't been properly ran since the early 90's.

Anyway, she ran nicely, until the left steering knuckle (or the plastic thing at the end of the steering rod that moves the wheel) must have been broken before and glued, and the glue lost it hold and allowed the wheel to do its own thing. Luckly I was able to stop the car quickly (I wasn't thrashing it).

How hard is it to get replacement knuckles? Are they a universal part or are they a specific (therefore hard to find) part?

Thanks.

I guess you mean part M54 in the manual? Original ones are often on sale on ebay along with the white plastic ballraces for the front steering arms.

Modern ones should do the job just as well!

Tamiya repairer, shame on you, half the fun is messing around taking the cars to bits and then wondering how to put them back again [;)] No excuse for that now with Tamiyaclub since all the manuals are here. Anyway, welcome to the board.
