Hello guys,

Just a question for you...

What would happen if I put a 8.5t brushless in my madbull?

No lipos, just NiMh.

Would the gearbox explode or would it be ok?

The gearbox won't explode. The motor may get a touch warm due to lack of gearing options on a model that wasn't really designed to have monster truck wheels. Whatever you put in it motor wise, be sure to chuck the kit supplied aluminium Tamiya 0.8 module pinion in the bin and fit a 17 tooth steel 32dp pinion.

I have a 4600Kv MambaMax combo in a DT01 (same chassis), but it's running the smaller buggy sized wheels (wheel size makes up part of your gearing).

Surprisingly there is

Yeah I know, don't fall off your chair. My F350 High-Lift and the CC01s have silvercan or slower brushed motors.

I have a Carson 16 turns 2500kV brushless system in the Mad Bull with 7.2V NiMH batteries and a 17T module 0.8 steel pinion, and that's just right for me when using the kit supplied Monster truck wheels. Although I'll be using 7.4V LiPos for upcoming runs.

With a lesser turns brushless motor using the same monster wheels and NiMHs, the gearbox will still be fine, but you may get major cogging and motor heat. You'll then also notice that the Mad Bull tires aren't that grippy on short grass and dirt, and the enourmous bumpsteer isn't contributing for good control, too.

I have the same gearbox in my quick drive. It's got a 6.5t brushless using nimh batteries.

Goes great, but the motor does heat up. The gearbox doesnt give much airflow to the motor..

There's just a little problem; since that brushless motor is so powerful, the tires are frankly not up to the job.

Therefore i'm looking for some tires , around the same size but with more grip.

Do you have any suggestions?
