The auction for the black porsche 934 just ended! The reserve was not met even though the price went to $3650!!!Gee,that's extraordinary! Are there other vintage products that Tamiya has made that have been this collectable or rare?

The three hardest Tamiya nib kits to find?Is the Lancia Rally one of them? There is only one kit in full nib form that is owned by a Tamiya club member! The description bedside the car also says the same thing!

I think these cars are quite hard to find NIB as well:

Lamborghini Countach (non cs)

Ferrari T3, hard to find despite the rerelease version

Audi Quattro

Lancia Rally

Honda F2

Brabham BT50

There are also quite a few kits that are "easily" available, like the Super Champ, B2B, Porsche 956, and despite it's price, the Sand Scorcher.

I've also heard about a solar car, that had very little success due to its very confidential distribution.

I have that solar car NIB; 56101 Solar Eagle SRC-6000. I have never run this (type of) model, so I can't tell how well it works. The front axle is of the oldfashioned 1/12 scale pan car "beam" type (but exclusive to the Solar Eagle) There's only one wheel in the rear, driven by a rather small motor, about 280-size if I remember correctly. No suspension travel, but I've seen it modified with one single yellow CVA damper in the rear. The rest of the car consists of an upper and lower lexanbody clamshelled together (no frame or chassis) and of course the solar panels. Electronics are simple, but include a capacitor reservoir for controlled running "through" small shadows. A Futaba Magnum Jr. transmitter is included in the kit, branded Tamiya of course.

Raemin is right when saying that distribution was rather scarce, but the real problem was the excessive price and very low interest in a model of this kind, especially as the same amount of money could buy you a nice buggy or stadiumtruck.

I bought mine on German eBay for USD/Eur 250,- about 4 years ago, and I'm very happy with the purchase. Just regret not buying the second similar model I was offered by the same seller.

Just use the search funtion (top right) and you should find the answer. I asked that one along time back so it should be there somewhere.
