This is a shout to ANYONE who fancies a weekend meet in Bristol which comes with FREE camping and entry to a Mini show.

NO entry fee required - simply turn up as part of the RC display, and you'll be directed to the appropriate place.

Here's the format: This year's Bristol Miniday is actually going to be a weekender, taking place from 15th to 17th June. The organisers have asked me to get together a bunch of RC enthusiasts to come along and occupy a small corner of the area to generally bash and have fun with RCs, to add a bit more life and liveliness to an already lively event.

The running area: I'm told our area will be a mixture of grass, concrete and tarmac. I'm expecting the tarmac to be quite rough, so buggies and trucks will be the order of the day, but if you fancy bringing along some Minis or touring cars then feel free to do so, there'll be a bench to display our cars on so even if you're not running something, it can still be admired by the public.

The facilities: The show will have fast food vans and toilets on site, there will also be barbecues and live music in the evenings.

The format: This isn't going to be an organised race event, however if there's enough of us we can put on some informal races or time trials to keep things fun. I won't have any timing equipment.

The weekend: The show begins on Friday night with live music, with the Mini show in full swing over the weekend. On Saturday there is a cruise for Minis to raise money for Help For Heroes - sadly this is for full-size Minis only, but we will be welcome to stay on site while the Minis are out cruising. You don't have to come for the whole weekend if you don't want to, the main show is on the Sunday, so if you can only make one day, please try to make it Sunday.

What can you bring? Simple answer is - anything you like. I can't guarantee how big the running area will be, so largescale petrol and nitro might not have much space to operate, but if I get more info I will update here. Monster trucks, buggies, scalers, crawlers, anything!

If you want to bring ramps, frequency boards, rocks for crawling on, scale bridges or any other paraphernalia, feel free to do so. I am looking for someone with a frequency board so I don't have to make my own :)

I will also be trying to arrange for a large table to be set up at the front of our area, so we can display our favourite cars to show visitors. People may be interested and want to ask questions, so if you're affiliated with a club then bring along some flyers, we may be able to induct some new beginners into the hobby!

I will have several 12V car batteries on site that we can use to operate our chargers, I might also be able to arrange for a 240v generator so we can charge all weekend without running out of power.

If you are interested in attending, please let me know here. If you'd like more information, please ask here. Anything else, please put it here.

I'm trying to make this a big and successful meet in its own right, and having plenty of action in the Mini show will mean there's something to do even when you get tired of bashing your RC.

If you would like to attend, please put your name down here, listing how many people will be attending and what days you will be coming on.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing some of you there!

Bump - just to say this is still going ahead - the event will be open all weekend but due to low numbers I will only have the RC area open on SUNDAY, and I'll no longer be camping on site (unless the weather drastically improves and I change my mind at the last minute).

We will have a generator to provide as much charging power as you need and a table for setup, repairs, etc... but please bring your own chairs if possible!

I have also been offered the use of portable barriers in exchange for representing CMCC (Chippenham Model Car Club - www.cmcc.org.uk ) at the event, so there'll be more than just back-and-forth bashing for those who feel like it - I'm still sorting this out (last minute) so don't be upset if there are no track barriers on the day :)
