Tamiyaclub members from outside UK, will they be able to/ or offered to charge batteries on site? or should we arrange our own means of juice for batteries?

Maybe there will be some generous UK members, who could perhaps assist in this?

Thanks.

Once we get closer to the Tamiyaclub event, would be nice to see a list of members coming to the event and where they reside.

The site is mainly hard standing, so any courses we have will be man made. There are some possibilities of off road areas but I've still got to investigate this items when I go back sometime next week.

Events are tricky because

- they need organising

- setting up

- timetabling

- marshalling

- management of frequencies. This is the single biggest issue, as we obviously don't want people having transmitter/reception issues

- agreement on what races/events we want to run (we want to cater for most people, but obvious can't guarantee ever possible category of RC is catered for, so want to run those that are going to be best attended.

Once tickets are available and purchased, those people who are committed to attending will obviously have more say in what form the event takes. In the meantime, posting ideas here and also offering volunteer services here is a good place to start.

Hi Chris

thats fine, if you want some volunteer services i can see what i can do dont mind lending a hand. where abouts in nottingham is the event?

Im quite interested in attending this, id love to hang out with some likeminded TBH. Whats the consensus on cars run, im debating my Yokomo YZ10, i have my Avante, but didnt realy want to run it, so im looking at something else to buy as a runner, one of the 'shots in 4wd, or maybe 2wd with a Wild one should it be released and finished in time?

Havent raced in a while, bu tim sure ill be putting decent laps in after a few rounds, not that it matters though, its just a chance to have some fun.

The location must be a secret...and free entry for the first 10 to find it...

Chris..location? So we can arrange places to stay etc? Unless we have room to camp?

Hi All

Just sent out the latest news letter. Not sure about anyone else but it appeared a bit 'broke' in my email client, so here it is again.

Hi All

I'm hoping that I'll get ticket sales up this weekend - fingers crossed. Tickets will be available on the gate (assuming we don't sell out before hand - we should have 500 tickets in total but I'd guess we'd only sell around 100-200 in total based on previous years) Those buying tickets in advance will be able to book their places in the races (ooo that rhymed) prior to meeting day. They will also get priority parking places if they want to park closer to where the action/main trading is. The main difference this time though is we have an indoor area so the weather can't completely spoil the event :)

Cheers

I'm definitely going, bringing my friend along too, will go on Saturday and maybe Sunday too if funds permit. Am nervous with excitement as ive never been to an RC meet of any kind, went to Model Expo at the NEC once but found it too generic and there just wasnt enough fun! The fact that this event is going to be about fun and based around Tamiya is just fantastic!

Am thinking about selling some of my RC stuff there, as I need to raise cash at the moment for my new business. Will there be charges for selling/trading my Tamiya RC cars I wonder?

Big thanks goes to anyone involved in making this event happen.

Cheers all and look forward to meeting you and putting faces to TC user names :) .

Apologies for late reply.

First - this is nothing like Model Expo. Its a world apart. This is more like a crows sourced version where the interest comes from the people there instead of the exhibitors. Everyone is part of the event itself, they are all exhibito, visitor and sponsor rolled into one.

Everyone coming is welcome to trade from tables at the back of their car. We are not currently pushed for space (although depending on ticket sale numbers ) we might have to have some limits particularly for late ticket purchases. There is no extra charge for this, its all part of the ticket price. One ticket will get one person is for both days.

See you there

Who fancies a real live Tamiya Auction?

I've had this idea in the back of my head for years and I think this event might be the opportunity to do it. First off the idea is not to compete with ebay, its not designed to get the absolute maximum price that you could possibly get in a global market. What it is about is selling a bunch of stuff you may have knocking about, without the hassle of none paying bidders, without the hassle of postage and packaging and without the hassle of ebay & paypal taking your fees.

If people are up for it then I see the rules being something like this.

  1. Event will take place on both days around about 3pm (I figure this is probably the busiest time of day for visitors.
  2. 'Lots' and 'buyers/bidders' must be physically present on the day at that time
  3. 'Lots' are registered in the morning and are fixed - ie you can't change them in anyway after registration (so no adding or removing bits) People can view these fixed lots up to the auction so they can see the exact condition
  4. You register a minimum/reserve price known only to me with the lot. If the item does not sell for that price you get your item back. (Please bear in mind though the idea is we want to sell stuff, so putting unrealistic prices on items will just spoil it. If its all about the money for you then please give this a miss and use ebay. We reserve the right to refuse entry of a lot into the auction if we deem the reserve too high.
  5. I'll run the live auction, going up in £1, £5 and £10 steps depending on value of item
  6. winning bidder givers seller the cash and thats it.

The whole idea is its nice and easy. We could complicate things with internet bidding and people placing 'absent' bids but that would defeat the point.

What do you reckon? Any one besides me up for it?
