I've never run or owned a wild willy so I thought I'd get a cheapie off ebay for a bit of fun.

This was a local pickup so I paid my £125 and collected. Having collected I was amazed at the condition, it's had very little use and in great condition. It's painted blue but it's a decient paint job, Willy not painted

the best but I can re-paint. Wheels have been painted gold but it came with a spare front and back. All 4 tyres are in perfect condition (so is the spare :) ). Two period servos and reciever no transmitter.

I have a few questions for the Willy experts:

1. Value?

2. Do I Run or not run?

3. If run how does the reciever fit behind the msc?

4. Ditch the msc and replace with esc?

Any other tips?

Thanks

Ben

Now thats a very fine looking SWB Willy M38 so I guess 125 is an OK price, over here on ebay you can get a decent runner LWB for about 100€ some scuffs here and there. But yours is in a very good condition.

You have 2 or 4 spare tires with the car?

If you want to run it, make yourself a 5 cell side by side battery pack, the 6V are enough to have some fun and will fit nicely into the compartment. I would not run this beauty outside and when only on short grass.

Yes ditch the MSC if you want to run an ESC is much better.

If you have an old defect servo you can use it to get your steering servo in the right position, do you have the small screw and mini cilinder(h7 and c4, see manual)that go on the servo horn, otherwise you can use a small bit of antenna tube as replacement.

If you need to replace the rubber switch cover you can get that as sparepart from the rere bruiser.

Have fun its a great car.

And lets hope the hilux/blazer gets rere so we get new tires for Willy.

best to have 6c humppack... you do need the weight to do wheelies, lipo won't cut it

just leave the MSC & servo in place (then you won't lose it either),

there's more than enough room to fit ESC & RX in the space

vacated by the 4xAA battery cradle you'll not be needing

Nice car, run it!!!

The SWB is a little bit less stable than the LWB version but nothing terrible and more important as all WW is super fun!! Don't kill it on a shelf.....

On internet is easy to find some very cheap 7,2V hump packs (Carson made some) that have enough punch and weight to pull super wheeeeelies.

See the link below, is one of my runners (a LWB) and there is a pic that show the ESC (Old Tekin) inside now switched to a more modern Futaba MC230CR.

Hope this help.
