Hi,

I remember back in the day of the original Clod that upgraded motors were sold in pairs (normal & reverse rotation). Since the paris are harder now to find, can I just buy two of the same motor and change one of them to reverse rotation? If so, how does it need to be done?

Thank you,

Rob

You can usually do it by rotating the end bell on one by 180', then that will be your reverse rotation motor. Traxxas do 550 motors with normal and reversed windings, I have them in my Clod. Some people love them (me) but some don't.

Or you can fit two black cans, that was Tamiya's original hop up if I remember right.

If you go for motors that have had their timing advanced as received then you will have to reset them to the same timing - there is a thread somewhere on here by Rob Buckle and his Clod , using Tamiya TZ motors, which quickly got swapped out to brushless ones.

I have the Traxxas Titan 550 motors installed in my Clod conversion - better than the silver cans, but not sure they are any faster than a pair of Tamiya sport tuned motors. Its difficult to judge as my Clod is rather different to stock, and weighs possibly 50% more !

you can run 2 programmable non sensored brushless motors. I ran some 3000kv and some 4300kv motors before and it was a blast. Depending on radio you run channel mixing or a Y harness

I just completed my build of the latest Super Clod. I went with two Sport Tuned motors, and they work great! They are timed at zero, so no worries.
