Will this car take standard TT-01 wheels and tyres?

The father in law wants some new wheels and tyres for his car for fathers day but e-bay shows up nothing for this car, I have read through the manual on the main site and see that all wheels are a 12mm hex fitment but I dont know about the offset.

The wheels will go on fine as Tamiya's tourer wheels are pretty standard. Not sure about the offset except to say that the wheels that come in the kits are usually +0. I don't know for sure though.

Actually thinking about it, he still has the plastic bushings so remembering TA-Marks words "friends don't let friends drive with plastic bushings and tamiya aluminium pinions" I should probably get a bearing set and a pinion for him.

Well the Mrs will get it cause he's her dad but I have to help her buy it.

Anyone know what pinion to buy for this car?.

Edit to add, thanks Sayer, but I have had a think and I think the above may be a better pressie?

I have just found this post, but still a bit confused.(easy done, lol)So, this one will fit? http://www.fusionhobbies.com/RW-Racing-0-6-Pinion-Gear-p/rw0600.htm

FF02 is the same chassis and gearbox as the M03 Mini..

Biggest pinion that will fit in a standard FF02/M03 is a 20 tooth AV pitch (0.6 module).. (your other choices are a 16 or 18 tooth pinion.)

I dont know how you are getting a 21 in there, but it must sound good when its running... LOL.

Cheers

It would be great if we had a "sticky" thread with all the models and pinion sizes but I do realise that it would be hard work.

When you replaced the pinion gear, did you fit another Tamiya 'butter soft' AV aluminium pinion or did you fit a steel one?

Both M03 and M04 use 0.6m pinions. I highly recommend you use steel pinions from RW Racing (Modelsport.co.uk) or Robinson Racing (Part number RRP1119). They will last 100 times longer than the Tamiya AV pinions.

When the pinion wears out it will generally take out the spur gear as well, which means a new gearset is needed. The pinion wears first to a sharp point which will cut into the plastic spur gear, then the pinion eventually wears so far that it will slip teeth.

i can try , its mostly TA-Marks wisdom anyway .

i think it would be better to have one per chassis than per car , much shorter
