I've ben sitting on this Scorcher body for a while now, trying to decide what to do with it. Finally, it came to me: Dad's old bug! My dad had a '69 Beetle when I was little, and I used to love riding in that car. He even took me to see Star Wars at the drive in in it. So what better car to immortalize?

One thing, though: Dad's beetle was beige...

It really did have the black stripes; he put them on to cover up rust along the bottom of the doors. I didn't want to deal with working around the door hinge, so I moved the stripes up a bit.

No shelf queens here:

...although now I see why those stingers went for so much before the re-release. That didn't last long at all!

Oh well. This shell might not stay on this car anyway; I have a couple old Blackfoot chassis coming, and I may turn Dad's beige bug into a Monster Beetle...

This is cool. Spend some more time and make it as close to your dad's VW as possible!

Great idea for the shell. It does look good, but I'm with Mongoose... Keep pluggin' away at it...

Yeah, the stingers break off pretty much the first run.

Cheers,

I think it's great you have that memory of your dads bug and made an SS replica. I am with Scottoman and Mongoose, keep pluging away - these things are never done :)

When you are ready don't forget to join my SRB Group SIG and add it to the gallery there.

I'm going to add some more details to it for sure. But to be honest, he sold it when I was 6 or 7 years old, and I can't find a photo of it, so it will be more of a tribute than an exact replica.
