Good evening,

I am close to finishing my Avante; the quality of the parts was very impressive and overall the build felt more of a mix of my Buggy Champ and my F103, with added complexity. It was very enjoyable, but still not quite over.

However, I looked at the tires and thought that while they would be great for strictly off-road sessions, my bashing grounds are rarely entirely unpaved. I am therefore looking for a decent-lasting tire that could perform on both pavement and dirt.

My question(s) would be: is there any particular brand I should be taking a good look at for this cause, or will any appropriately-sized tire suffice? Or are the hybrid spike tires I have hard enough to take occasional pavement use? I would also like to ask any current Avante owners if they have used alternative tires (as opposed to the hybrid spike type or the stock low-profile rubber) for bashing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For sealed surface you could use oval block tyres, they're pretty hard usually. Not sure if anyone else make a 2.0 tyre that would fit standard rims, aftermarket 2.2 rims opens up a whole nuther option for you

+1 for oval block (Hot Shot) tyres, luv em. They are a great all rounder for that wheel size. Hybrid spikes look great and are well suited to loose dirt / off-road but just no good for pavement.

On my DF03MS - for tarmac - I use these: Front: http://www.ebay.de/i...=item4ab80faaa2

Rear: http://www.ebay.de/i...=item4ab80faf61

They hold up really really well and they are sticky. And this is with a BL 5.5T.

Also have a set of these when there's dirt involved: http://www.ebay.de/i...=item336aa260fe

For me - both sets have been super value for money.

Cheers

Oval block for the kit 2.0" wheels.

If your going to 2.2" wheels, get some Tamiya tires marked with a "K". The "K" stands for Kit so you know they are hard rubber and will last a long time. The newer flexible/modern version are called the "Dual Block TIres K":

- 54185 narrow

- 54186 wide

The older hard-rubber version are called "High Density Spike Tires K". These came standard on the DB01 & DF03.

- 51240 narrow

- 51241 wide

All of these tire sets include inserts. To run them you will also need a set of DF03 wheels.
