Thanks for sharing, How do the wide tires add to the handling? Are they more on the hard or soft side, and are they lasting good even with that fast motor?

Hi they are on the hard side and they look like they will last long compaired to normal tires i have used on road... it handels pretty good the wide stance realy enhances the handeling for sure.

It looks like it has more grip that I'd expect and handles very well. I wonder how it'll do on sand?

Well slap on some off rode tires and it should go fine!!

I GPS'ed it this morning with my hop up motor and the smaller 17 tooth pinion on a 6 cell nimh pack she goes 22.1MPH not that bad.

no need t be sorry, I liked it. Rover scooted along nicely. I kinda wish the front tires were softer for better steering, I notice yours ''pushes'' a lot too in the turns. Might be less than mine though as you changed to oil shocks

yea soften the front and stiffen the rear and it works ok now...you can also buy the swaybar set and only put it on the rear that should also give you more steering.

did you mentioned swaybar set any info on the bars? By Tamiya? Will fit on chassis without modification as I have 2 left thumbs.

Hi Search e-bay i think recall seeing them on there search the chassis dt02 and it should come up in the listings some place.

I've installed the red soft stabilizers both front and rear on my Sand Viper. However, I'm not sure how and if they've improved the handling. I would be glad if someone could explain how they work and how they should be set up for the DT-02 chassis. The rear stabilizer seems to be pretty wobbly and therefore useless (in my mind), as it is shifting from side to side were the rod is held between gearbox and rear shock tower.

Hi for off road most of the time it's better to use no swaybars unless it's a very smooth surface like a non bumpy smooth dirt track if there are ruts and bumps like in normal dirt then a sway bar would not be ideal.... swaybars stop the body roll from left to right so your car will handel better with only slightly hampering the opisit sides suspension movement in the up and down range this is why they work better in smooth conditions most of the time.

in some instances a couple old washers, nuts or fuel tubing will help as spacers to keep the anti sway bar located and ''tighter'' functioning.

take up some slop with any of the above or a combination to reduce play and improve function

My LHS has a Street Rover with a SV2 and 3800kv castle setup in it on 2s, quite fun to bury it from a standstill and try and keep it in a straight line

Wow, you're saying the gearbox holds up just fine to this? What type of diff in these? I'm guessing gear diff?

I have the 9T ezrun combo in mine 4300kv. On Ni-mh at the moment but waiting for a 2s lipo.

DT 02 is one tough gearbox , seems to handle whatever you fit to it .

Wolfdogstinkus - Nice video! That rover is pretty quick with the brushless on the sand! What a great vid of a causal walk down the beach. Loved the commentary. Especially the beginning where you were scolded for making her dizzy. Haha.... And for me the accent is fun as well!

I might have to get a Street rover after seeing this thread, although I'm bummed the body is pre-painted...

Thanks Skottoman, I like the bit where she thinks the wheel has come off, it has happened to my blitzer a few times so that's why she thinks it was the wheel.

I have just started driving a 1/1 car again after a long break due to illness and I don't know if it's worse her telling me where to drive the Tamiya's or her passenger seat driving in the 1/1 car, she likes to be in control, bless her.

I have quite a strong Scottish accent but you don't get to hear me.

i hope I have tempted you into a street rover after all the temptations you have been causing on the forums recently.

No i don't mind at all nice sand rover!!

You should paint the most of the rear gearbox with some flat aluminum paint it makes it look like a real motor in the back...I will find my other post and link it here so you can see mine done.

Thanks Shenlonco, yes I did see your painted gearbox, it looks good, I don't have any silver or aluminium paint at the moment but that's a good excuse to go and get some. The whole thing could do with a repaint all ready to be honest it has been rolled on tarmac a couple of times .

lipo should wake that up, seems very tame for a 4300kv motor

Yeah was fine, still had the plastic dogbones in it too. Local guy here has a holiday buggy 2010 that he asked a police officer to speed trap

with the gun and got 143km/h. Had to make a wheelie bar for it lol. I dont know what esc/motor this was running though, would have to ask him next time I see him.

had a venom fireball motor laying around so i dropped it in and with the silver i painted on the gear box with the motors big heat fins it actually looks like theres a real motor in the rear now!! I like it!!!
