Greetings:

An idle question came to me as I was out running one of my cars. As a student I wanted to study industrial design and from there hopefully make a career as an automotive designer. However, it never occurred to me to think about what occupations collaborate on a radio-controlled vehicle.

Would today's radio-controlled car designers be primarily product engineers? What sort of engineering/design professions would scale car design cover? I figure that most design is done by committee, with contributions from different fields (such as professional racers providing input) depending on whether the car is a racer or a leisure vehicle, but really I have no clue.

The question came up partly after some studying and partly after reading about the "Protoshot," the Tamiya Hotshot on TC that was widely-believed to be a pre-production sample or a prototype...
