I've rebuilt my Monster Beetle chassis as stock - the chassis parts and the wheels aren't pristine shelfer quality but they are too good to paint IMO so I'm sticking with the red/black chassis, yellow CVAs and the gold wheels.

I'm repairing the shell currently, but I'm seriously stuck with a colour scheme/theme

I've looked at EVERY showroom entry for the Monster Beetle, and outside boxart red, bar a few different blues, yellow and the odd white one, there's next to nothing.

I've googled Monster Beetle and again little inspiration whether its 1:1 or scale. Gulf Blue and Orange looks fine as a shell, but doen't look so good sat on top of red/yellow/gold chassis.

I've looked at 80+% of the Scorcher entries - some great examples there and loads of options, but again they look great on the hidden chassis and smaller wheels of the SRB chassis but don't readily translate to the MB one.

I've thought about army camouflage, a drab rat look, dented and rusted look but all these again don;t sit right on the chassis. I've even tried mu gunmetal/orange Gumball Blitzer Beetle shell on the chassis and that looks naff too.

Before I end up end up with a boring boxart example, I'll throw it out to the forum members to for any ideas !

I've had a similar experience fitting a Baja Bug shell to my King Bkackfoot chassis. Haven't really seen anything that inspires me... Was wondering about painting the bonnet yellow and doing a mottled blue/grey in the body with black dusting to resemble a ME109?

What we need is a simple PC program with the car outline drawn in black lines, then we can add our own colour schemes and try out ideas before attacking the plastic.

Strip the wheels, paint the chassis, wheels and shocks to complement your new paint scheme, job done!

And no, I don't mind making work for you, all part of the service :)

Hahaha

If the components were a bit shabby then i'd be all for this, black chassis and wheels would make life a lot easier !

I have one thought in my head - its easy peasy paint scheme and I have spotted some suitable decals. Not very original though !

I think visually i'd go for some thing like the Scorcher boxart - but with a yellow body and light blue side panels ect

Cheers Aaron - i know where you are coming from and it works well on the SRB, but its another colour added to the red/yellow/black/gold theme of the MB chassis.

Well, if I had the chance myself, I know I'd like to try to customize one like the 1983 Matchbox "Sand Digger" VW bug. :)

Unfortunately, in my country you can't get the paint :(

Anyway, here's some pics in case you don't remember it:

Keep 'em coming!

This afternoon I bought a set of non Tamiya decals, which I hope are in keeping with the monster theme and could be the basis for my shell repair. Just need to check them for size etc when they arrive on the doorstep.
