Sorry, can't resist, but... What does this post mean? :)

Loooo , i wantd to say: wat does this mean!?.

Cos i am writing from mobile and sometimes going quick on buttons which makes words to be funny..hehehe

The bottom is wider due to the "screw-in" style lower seal cartridge Tamiya is using on everything now. Exact same deal on the Avante re-release gold shocks. The original shocks had the o-rings & shaft guides held in by a tiny tiny C-clip. These new versions use a cartridge that is screwed into the bottom and tightened with the provided wrench.

They also appear to have dark coated shock shafts (like CVA's) instead of the original polished.

meh.

Another interesting note is the countersunk holes on the shock tower. Can't see that making much of a difference in strength. Plus it kinda ruins the original's "reversible" feature that allowed it be flipped for Avante or Vanquish bodies. I suppose it will still work though.

BTW: I take back my previous comment about the darkened shafts. The latest ebay pics show bright shafts.

Hi all! I usually spend my time over in the main site but thought I would drop by the forums. I just ordered a set of front and rears from Stella to go on my Bearhawk. Might be overkill but those dampers will surely look sexy!

Hi viperchief and well done for visiting us over here. I am relatively new to TC (18 months or so) and I have often wondered why so much valuable experience and knowledge from main page users is not so readily shared amongst all.

They will really suit your Bear Hawk I think and at only $12 more than CVA dampers, I want to put them on everything :D

So the damper tower is CF and not FRP... that's unique isn't it?

Can anyone with a set tell us if they still have the tiny vent hole drilled though the center of the top caps?

Come on guys! I know someone has these already. Just open 'em already!

Exactly,,, :)

we need someone to give a full details about it ;)..

Well,,,,since this CF damper stay has Vanquish body adjustment, then i think the next re-re will be vanquish... :)

and might be: Vanquish White special, red Special, or Blue special...what u think guys!!!

tnx

Vanquish Pink Special

Stella have shipped mine, currently at about 34,000 feet i think. I'm sure soemone will get theirs before me, but if not I'll do my best to clarify any queries when they arrive.

lol, no the originals were not made of platinum. Though Kyosho did have a "platinum" optional aluminum damper set that was considered an upgrade from their typical "gold" shocks. Of course the Kyosho gold shocks were not made from gold either.

And yes the original front shock tower was FRP, not CFRP (graphite, carbon fiber, etc...).

Era,

I personally feel the countersunk holes on the shock tower are an indication that Tamiya has completely abandoned any notion of re-releasing the Vanquish. To me it says "this side down" which indicates Avante only. I guess only time will tell.

Here's a picture of Kyosho Platinum & Gold shocks for comparison sake. Notice how the platinum shocks have the thickest shaft you will ever see in 10th scale. :o No idea why. Either way Kyosho shocks are lame because they come pre-built. Building shocks is the most interesting part of an RC build IMO.

I own these shocks from Kyosho. The thicker shaft is due to the possibility to adjust the hardness of the return of the piston by simply turning the lower ball connector without disassemble the shock absorber. So you can change the damping of these shocks simply rotating the ball connector.MAx

Interesting note: While the front springs appear to be the same as Egress (5 working coils), the rear springs are actually different. These Hi-cap rear springs have 8 working coils, while Egress rear springs have 10. This means the new springs are stiffer (if the wire is the same thickness) for whatever reason.

OK, got mine yesterday. 2 working days from order as Perth is very close to Hong Kong.

First observations are that the cylinders are darker in appearance than my Egress dampers. The tiny air bleed in the cap is still there. Otherwise the differences in springs, O'ring loading etc have already been mentioned. Mine won't be built for a while yet but they are going to look very smart.

My interesting note is that the Avante shock tower flipped upside down, fits perfectly behind the Astute rear bulkhead as a support brace with the two top screws going straight through the rear damper tower, bulkhead and brace very neatly.
