The Mabuchi data sheet I have (from their website) for the RS-540SH 27x1 lists the motor on 7.2v as:

No Load:

17550rpm

1.6 Amp

At best efficieny:

15,030rpm

237g/cm

9.5 Amp

At stall:

1651g/cm

57 Amp

I certainly notice the difference in our 27 turn spec class buggy racing when I swapped out the RS540SH for a 27T Dirt Tuned in the DF03MS. It accelerates quicker. It doesn't bog down as much in the soft sections of track. It's top speed is marginally faster. This makes for about 1 second a lap faster, which is about half a lap by the end of a 5 minute race. On the down side it does chew through the 1800mAh Ni-Cd pack quicker (Ni-Cd pack is one of the class requirements).

That's pretty good. Doesn't change much from my guesstimate. Slightly less area under the curve at 2,897,505 square units.

I tried to graph the Dirt Tuned motor, but again tamiya has inconsistent specs. They are leaving out the rpm at best efficiency. <_<

As mentioned the load is the crucial factor on the Tamiya ESC.

I had one thermal & never recover running a sport tuned in a drift car, 4wd & locked diffs, so lots of load & low speeds so little air flow over the motor or ESC.

Why take the gamble when an ESC that can handle a much wider range of motors can be purchased so cheaply? Save the Tamiya ESC for something running a silver can.

Hi Shen

i think the tamiya superstock series of motors are quite a bit quicker than the tamiya GT tuned motor which comes with the re re supershot.

i dont know if they are quicker than your duratrax 20t but my BZ is a lot faster than the silvercan and in your drag race your supershot did,nt look much faster than your bro,s re re hotshot with the same gearing.

cheers Karl

Well I say order your self one pop that sucker in and give it a test and see if it's faster that's one way you will find out.

Put it this way my sand rover with the duratrax motor GPS tested was faster than a venom 19 turn double wind motor using the same battery pack GP 3900 6 cell and i think there much faster than the tamiya motors.

OK i did a RPM test used a freshly charged 6 cell pack

the duratrax motor as seen in the photo 24,200RPM

and a stock tamiya kit silver can 18,500RPM

So the same test shows with the duratrax photon speed 2 motor it gives you 5,700RPM over a stock tamiya kit motor..it also has much more tourqe.

:D So for a $11.00 motor shipped it's a great hop up in my opinion you can't go wrong with it at that price!
