Converting vintage to runner

I have recently bought a couple of Sand Scorchers and intend to make one of them a runner - whats the best way to go about it - do you stick with original components, batterys, motors...etc or is it best to install a new esc, battery and motor - has anyone attempted this and if so do you have any set up/installation tips - pictures would be very interesting to see - where you position and attach everything.

Can you put a better motor in ?- would the gears stand it?

Djtheo is right theres bits all over the place, but I feel compelled to point you towards fellow member dazmeister, he has lexan radio boxes and ss bodies and I swear by them. Puts the 'devil may care' factor back into driving badly[8D]
