While on holiday my step son and i managed to crash my Blitzer rather well lol . Gear case was damaged beyond repair and being unable to get hold of spairs i bit the bullet and bought something to mess about with for the rest of our break .

We picked up a FTX Carnage 4x4 brushed from Arrow Models in Scarbrough for £119 RTR . I'am quite impressed with it . Its well made with a decent spec - oil dampers and decent hard links ect ect . Its basically the same as their FTX Vantage racing buggy but with Truggy wheels . The nice thing is that its easy to go up to brushless when we want to as they do a brushless version . The only things i might do for now are to add a cover on the underside as the spur gear is exposed to any dirt / stones and experiment with ratios . All electronics are Modelsport items .

Its not over fast but very capable - ideal for a trigger happy 15 year old .

Sounds like you have two new projects then, rebuilding the blitzer and improving the ftx

 Not forgeting the 4x4x4 Wild Dagger . Postman Pat will be working overtime in the next week or so with all the parts we have on order . The Lad is as into rc as i am now and i see our joint collection growing rapidly .Currently we have the blitzer in need of a new body and a rebuild , ftx that will be going brushless , srb that will be getting a sand rover body , the dagger and the long term ford gpa project . We both have a number of kits on the want list so i see our now joint interest only getting stronger .

Don't say I didn't warn you about having lots of projects. And as if I didn't need another myself I picked up a sand master kit yesterday :(

If the store in scarbrough had had a sand master in stock i'd have bought one as well lol . It was weird going back in there . Over 30 years ago i used to go in every time we had a holiday on the east coast . The owner even remembered me ! He priced matched to their web site and that saved me £10 . Now thats what i call customer service . We had a chat and he said something that i found both sad and interesting at the same time . He used to stock Tamiya in a big way back in the 80's . However he said that they were the worst company to deal with for many reasons . Firstly parts supply - dont we all know how that one go's ? Secondly - price . Tamiya are expensive comparded to similar products . Lastly , and i found this the saddest part - modern kids dont want to build a 'kit' . If it is'nt RTR he can'nt sell them . Sign of the times i guess but heck it made me feel old .

Every customer bar me in the hour i spent in modelsport yesterday bought RTR - a couple of lads came in with a broken nitro monster truck and it was obvious they had no idea how the front gearbox came apart or what was in there. Use them, bash them, get others to fix them - throw away society these days !

Being making some changes to the Carnage . Fitted a brushless system i had in the spairs that happens to be identical to the one FTX fit in their brushless version . Huge improvement . Also fiitted the wheelie bar - a absolute must . This is a very quick and capable car now . I was'nt happy with the supplied body . IMO its a cheap and nasty looking thing and ruins the look of a otherwise great value truggy . The solution was obvious . I had a spair Wild Dagger body left over from another project . De stickered it , did some trimming and drilled some new mounting holes . Quick bit of filling on the old holes and some pinstripe and on it went . Tamiya bodys are by far better quality IMO . Now we have a nice looking Truggy / short course 4x4 basher that looks far more in proportion and more 'quality ' . Total cost of mods £12 :D . Thats what i call a result .
