Got an e-mail from Tower this morning -- they're selling the Axial Exo Terra kit for $200, or $170 with super saver discount and free shipping. Though this buggy is listed as 1/10, it has the wheelbase and width of a 1/8 scale buggy and around 50 mm of ground clearance. It also has 32 pitch gears, triple oil filled diffs, bearings, oil dampers, full roll cage, etc.

Seems like a great price for such a popular buggy. It generated a lot of threads on other forums when it came out.

great deal .

the only issue i could find on the exo is the fiddly battery compartment , but a great great looking buggy non the less

From this review it looks like a great driver, but getting to the chassis and swapping batteries looks painful...

But, it's not much worse than the 16 screws you have to remove to get to the DB01 drivetrain...

Well, I ended up ordering one. It was too hard to pass up given its specs, looks, and price :D . It looks like others have figured out how to improve battery access, and disassembly shouldn't be much of an issue after initial tuning. Compared to the HPI Apache C1, this looks like the better handling vehicle.

if you cut one strut away its easier

also , the apache for me is just too big , it looks good but still , also i've decided not to buy RTRs anymore .

I was considering one of these before I bought the Kyosho Sand Master. I still may get one in the future as it seems to be a great performing buggy and looks cool too. I hate that stupid looking rear wing though. If I get one I will probably remove it and mount a spare on top. With that said, my next buggy after the Sand Master will be a Duratrax VW Baja Bug. It's based on the Evader chassis so it will also handle well. I will order it this week and take advantage of the Tower Hobbies discount codes. The RTR electronics will get ripped out for a budget brushless system.
