On a whim, browsing eBay during lunch break, I now have a WW2 on its way to me (oh boy, yet another project :o )

Impatient as ever, what are the weak points of this chassis and body.

I know the rear wheel and roll bar are missing (maybe not surprising, thats K and L parts required then) but what are the other areas to check out and which is the better pinion to use (18t or 20T) as I'd like a bit of wheelie action but no backflips with stock silver can.

Thanks

They're pretty tough little beasts. The spotlights are breakable, the winch is vulnerable and the driver's left arm can get torn off! I run mine with a (steel) 18t pinion, wheelies well but not mad fast.

Cheers guys

left arm is in place so thats a bonus !

I've got spare bearings

any idea what pitch the pinion is ?

will check the drive cups when it arrives

Not much weak point but lots of tuning possibilities B)

- steel .6 metric rrp pinion 18 or 20T

- torque tuned motor or sports tuned (got it with a 20T runs pretty ok :D )

- Motor Heat Sink

- ball bearings

- TL01 stainless shaft set 53301

- hardened diff shaft rear 53218

- high torque servo saver 51000

- oil shocks 53155 (really improves handling)

- strengtned B parts 0005757 (can be used to modify the front for use with 12mm hex, needs 54183 )

- light kit (3racing)

and ditch the winch.

and cvd's also should be available for the wr02 chassis, 54394 WR-02 Universal Shaft Set

Go Willy!

Wow - as ever there's a huge hop-up/improvement path, but for once i might leave this one simply as Mr T intended - i'm all too quick to upgrade my models and hence hardly ever run them in original form.

Well gues why Mr T. makes all these hop-up parts. <_<

We are just his little junkies

:D :D :D

Can really recommend oil shocks (besides the obvious bearings and steel pinion)

I run mine stock around my backyard, and it's been fine. Only thing that's happened is a step screw holding a lower shock eye worked it's way loose.

They're pretty durable chassis, and with a silvercan, are just fine for what they were intended for.

Of course you could oil dampen it, put a brushless in, metal pinon, etc, and away you go!

Cheers,

Skottoman

Well i don;t think i'll be throwing £70 worth of oil shocks, £33 of CVDs and £10 of diff cups at it, not at UK prices anyway !

Stella comes in at £49+postage for the lot, which is more than i paid for Willy in the first place. With other replacement parts that will no doubt be required its coul end up a £130 build, which while still cheaper than a new stock kit, is a bit out of scope at present.

Steel pinion for now then :D

Ansmann shocks, maybe with the original shock springs, thicker oil in them, steel pinion and a sport tuned motor, or a Lipo battery, that's all I did to my old one and it was great.

I use the Ansmann 63mm shocks on mine, £15.50 for four from Time Tunnel. Use with kit springs or touring car springs. Though I think the one you bought had some sort of hop-up shocks anyway?

Hey Rob - you are right ! - the photo isn't the best, but the shocks fitted don't look stock for sure. Will see what arrives, especially given that I can already see a non standard ESC, RX and the tyres are fitted backwards !!

In the meantime I've spotted the 3racing TA05 55mm damper set at a good price from HK which might be quite nice if i go for a sassy blue colour scheme :o
