I've been eyeing this CC01 on Craigslist for about a month and finally took the bait. It was originally advertised as just needing a radio but later the price dropped with the removal of the servo and ESC. It seemed to be too cheap to be true. I picked it up around lunch time and I've been laughing ever since. Here's a picture of it as picked up plus parts from here in the back to make it complete. As I was leaving with it he said it might need suspension tuning. HA!

IMG_1415-Copy.jpg I really like the shocks, they are really one of a kind or 4 one of a kinds. The blue uprights must be a hop up, only one bearing and a drive cup that's too short for the dogbone. The links are sort of a replacement for the broken and cleaned up link and shock mount but they didn't clear the tires and got customized. The driver figure is maybe 16th scale and was screwed to the floor since there are no seats. Sorry, not a driver since this is a euro right hand drive, he was the passenger. Those 1.5 inch screws held the cab on. I think it's funny in a lot of ways. I might as well laugh, the seller probably is.

Oh no, it's not impossible. Ok their's more, you've seen the really unique shock setup it had. Not one of the big chunky tires is completely bonded anymore so they all run out quite a bit. As tall as the thing sits, with no shocks and the tires not running round it's no wonder they screwed the little guys foot to the floor. I'd have put one of those hula daning dolls in the bed of it

This just keeps getting better. I got a freebee and didn't know it. This came from Florida and I guess part of thier beach is missing. There wasn't enough sand for me to wiggle my toes in but it was close. There wasn't a single bearing in it either.

I've been wanting to try out the new waterproof Tazer brushless so this seemed ideal. I got it all cleaned up and put back together with bearings and grease and a new pinion. The old one was paper thin. I changed all the plugs and set the steering and throttle trims. The first run was on carpet but now that the tires are bonded dirt wouldn't have changed much.

Um, I wish my pumpkin wheelted that well. It was chassis only but I had a vision of that top heavy Unimog body in full wheelie and it's not pretty. Funny yes, pretty no.

I'm gonna go back to the drawing board on the power issue. A small word of warning on the new Tazer. They like plastic dogbones....tastes like chicken I guess. It twisted the ends off them both. WOW

It hinges open from both ends and the back is servo driven like the video shows, Sorry couldn't remember how to do a better link. I made the dogbones for it and did a bit of creative work to go lower with the pinion and it all works. I'm debating some other details.

IMG_1419.jpg I had to make the bows for the back cover and a bit of suspension tuning, Porsche 935 seats. The link to the video isn't bad, just the dump off in action.

The idea was for it to be a waterproof winter driver but it's not close to that. The CC01 and the motor and ESC don't play well, if at all. I have to consider this one a failure at this time and it has to come apart and be redone before it's run again. That means not waterproof and not a winter driver so it's cute but pretty much useless.

I solved 2 problems, I put lights on it and filled most of the holes in the cab. I set the lights as bright as possible so that the whole thing looks better. It's harder to spot flaws with a bright light shining in your eyes.

I also put in a 55 turn and Tazer 15T ESC.

I joke about this one because I can. In my humble opinion the body is worth around 50 and it's not my first try at purchasing one. Wheels and tire are worth another 30 to me plus the 55 turn motor it came with added value. I paid 75 for it and everything to make it run has come out of my own stock.

Most of the attraction to this body isn't because of it's beauty but the utility vehicle ugly duckling thing anyway.

The chassis was a mess and the selling price should have been a sign something was really wrong but what I was really after was sound.

The CC01 still needs steering help but the rest has been sorted and it's all going to be doable. I'll doll it up as parts are found so it will look the part.

After the Porsches and Jaguars I was due something unique but not so pretty anyway. My second choice was a cheetah but the price was higher and it doesn't have a good reputation.

thats the beauty of a Unimog - that fact thats its butt ugly and all business . I'am sure you can make this look very scale with your talent . Changing the wheels to something like rc4wd landies would help IMO .

The wheels could be changed but the tires add to the experience. They have a really deep lug and an odd pattern so at low speed the thing bounces and acts like it's a tracked vehicle. They look round but roll like thier square. Ihen again it's 12mm hex so the options are good.

I sorted out the steering already and found the right springs for the front. Very soft but leveled it out quite a bit.
