Converting a Boomerang to a hotshot

I just got a set of Plated Hot shot wheels for my Boomerang http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=508&id=34 I have heard of others using the Boomerang chassis on a hotshot becuase of it's open design. My question is would it be easy to a hotshot roll cage and body on a boomerang. Are the mount points the same or would it not work at all?

The Hotshot body attaches to the chassis by a single body post in the centre of the top of the chassis. The Hotshot chassis is also lower and narrower than the Boomerang chassis, so I do not think the Hotshot shell would actually fit over the tub. The roll cage is bolted to the rear gearbox and wraps around the back of the gearbox just like the Boomerang rear bumper. The Boomerang rear shock mount would prevent you from attaching the cage. The Hotshot cage is bolted to the gearbox using the same fixing points that the Boomerang tub chassis is attached, so again it it would be impossible to add a cage to the Boomerang chassis. You could of course buy a Hotshot chassis to replace the Boomerang tub[]

Terry, thats what I kinda thought, that it wouldn't work. Maybe I will just have to pick up a hotshot some time.

Why not use one the recent lexan shells for the Blazing Star? Once painted with the hotshot color scheme and decals, it would look nice. This is what I can think about for an hotshot like boomrang.

Hi Shodog i might have a spare used hotshot chassis (i'll have to look) i know i have a spare NIB Hotshot 2 Chassis let me know and i'll see if i've got one[]

I have a Hot Shot II and I need some parts as I am runnig out of working tamiya cars []

rear axles, maybe some gears in the front and rear gearbox, wheels ....

Now I noticed that Hot Shot parts are not very cheap but somtimes old Tamiyas cars that are not so popular but use some interchangeable parts are a lot cheaper.

Could anyone tell me which cars share the gears (& gearbox), axles (arms), rc-box with Hot Shot II ? One car that has many parts in common would be Boomerang of course.

How about Thunder Dragon, Hot Shot I, Super Shot, Bigwig, Super Sabre, Thundershot, Fire Dragon, Manta Ray id="red">?
