I read one on dogbomb.co.uk today.

2 arabs got on a plane out of New York. They sat in the seats nearest the window and then just before the door closed an American got on, sat in the seat nearest the aisle and took his shoe's off to help him relax.

After take-off the American asked the arabs if they would like a drink, one of then said "yeah" he'd like a beer, so the American goes and gets one. While he's gone the Arab spits in his shoe.

Then other Arab tries a bit of the beer and says " cor.. thats nice perhaps I will have one too". So the American obligies and goes to get another, then the other Arab spits in the Americans other shoe.

When the American returned they all sat and enjoyed their beers and sat until the end of the flight.

When they arrived the American put his shoe's back on and straight away knew what had happend.

"why does it have to be this was" he says. "How long must this fighting between our nations go on" "This hatred, this spitting in shoe's and *******ing in beer!!!"

OK Guys you've had your fun, but we are running a bit (?) off topic. Please move further jokes to a more suitable thread.

Not wanting to be a kill joy but remember the rules when posting more jokes. I have no problem with people not finding some of the jokes funny but do not publish jokes which MAY cause offense in terms of race/religion/politics etc - no matter how funny you think they are.

Cheers

Chris

I'm sure you like that, eh...? [;)] Why did the version I hear was with a Dutch and a Belgian guy...? [:P]

One question remains - what does this have to do with flyby? I think we had a folder in the forums called "The Outside World"... Let's move all the jokes there as there aren't many posts made there anyway... [;)]

Darryn is right. I know his skin his thick enough not to take offense as these types of jokes but others may not be. Which is why jokes based on racial stereotypes or conflicts are not really suited for this board.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying i am not all for comedy, but there is a difference betweem people going to a comedy store or watching something on TV where they are expecting to see comedians making jokes that challenge them and push the boundaries and people coming to a Bulletin board, which has been set up to discuss radio control cars.

As Mods we could have just deleted all the posts in this thread back to almost the original one - its meandered its way through, discussing personal details to suitable comedy material for the board.

But what we have chosen to do is let it run and leave posts are examples so our comments made sense. Its not a public way of trying to chastise people, its just if we delete stuff and just discuss it with the individuals involved then we miss the opportunity to let others know about what is acceptable or not, in context. Hopefully this way other people will read and learn from the threads.

NONE of this is aimed at anyone in this thread particularly, its just some of the posts have raised interesting points which we have tried to highlight.

Apologies if people see this as the Mods getting more heavy handed but it is not the case. All we are doing is trying to respond to questions asked of us. We are simply having to make more posts like this because more people are raising issues that need a reply.

If people read the rules and thought about posts more before posting, then the only posts you would see from us mods are the normal posts 'Whats your preferred oven cleaner for removing paint' [;)]etc etc

What I just don't understand is why people have a problem with this. We have a simple set of rules which everyone agrees to. We have a huge user base, made up of men, women and children, from all racial backgrounds and religions and at the end of a day this is a board set up to to discuss RC Cars. All we are trying to do is keep it on topic.Again it would be sad if anyone stopped using the board because they don't like that we try and stop posts which may offend, but at the end of the day that is the path we have chosen to follow and its not going to change.

I think one of the problems is that it is easy to think that posts you make are just being read by your mates, much the same as sitting around a table in a bar over a few beers. In this scenario I would agree most of what we mod would be said with no problems at all.

Unfortunately posting in a message board (this or any other publically accessible one) is more like standing up on a soap box in the middle of thousands of people, the majority of which you know nothing about, and shouting you comments through a loud speaker.

Please can we just get back to using this board for what is was opened for ie discussing RC related matters.

Cheers

I'm sure flyby wherever he is would be delighted to know that a search for his whereabouts has turned into some open debate on racially stereotyped jokes.

If I go missing - Knock knock jokes and their place in society' - discuss.

Not totally correct : MUSLIM do not drink beer.

In the gaza strip for instance I believe that up to 30 percent of the arab population is christian (hence the particular interest in the nativity church). And most of the countries in the area (turky, syria, libanon) do produce some beer or Arak equivalent.

Arab countries do even produce high quality wines, just give a try to the ones produced by franciscans in Lebanon : Musar and Kefraya are a must.

Actually, no, sorry. Ya, Muslims are not allowed to drink.

But Saudi whole country *also* runs on Islamic law, which prohibits any drinking of alcohols by all residents. It is a crime punishable by the usual delightful methods if one is caught drinking... in public usually. Private drinking is usually "tolerated" if its committed by ppl of foreign origins eg US.

But there's definitely 1 Australian who is currently sitting in gaol there and receiving 100s of lashes for "Importing & Distributing Alcohol". He was sentenced about 3 mths ago I believe.

(Recently too another Ozzie just got 18 mths and 250 lashes just because his Filipino *wife* asked him to post a parcel of medical supplies for her. Just because Unfortunately that parcel contained some stolen goods! [:0][:0] Oz PM/embassy is making usual noises but sure yeah, that'll mean he'll be released by about 2006!! [:P])

OMG....maybe thats where flyby is....Come to think of it i'm sure it wouldnt be the first time he'd got rat ******* and taken 250 lashes, although I believe he usualy has to pay for the lashes....i know i do[:I]
