Aeration dampers on TC's are to get controlled negative rebound. Its not a common set-up style. Personally I prefer bladders so I can get exact rebound strokes and have a precise car.

BTW aeration dampers were knocking about ages ago on some TC's, never really caught on. Maybe this will change it, but I wont be rushing out to buy them for my 417 when I upgrade to to WX spec.BTW i have details on my blog (In the sig)

Below is a picture of the 417 Jilles Groskamp took to victory at the Worlds. The new car will essentially be the same. You can see the bleed ports on the shocks have been made functional. Apparently he was using "100% negative-rebound" as his damper setup (#400 oil). That is the shock shaft pulls itself back into the body 100% after being fully extended by hand. There hasn't been much talk about these shocks yet on Jilles' thread on RCTech yet, but I'm sure it's comming. Probably once people start putting them on their own cars.

I also noticed this same trend on the instructions for the re-release hi-cap dampers. The bladders & caps are installed with the piston almost all the way up inside the cylinder. Perhaps negative rebound is the new trend in RC setup.

After all those R/C buggy conversions of Mini4WD-cars, I would really like to see a 1/10 scale Tamiya Wildsaurus coming:

Who needs spare tires on the back, when you can take spare batteries along? :D

Missing from this list:

  • a true scaler with leaf springs and axles (think scx10))
  • a newly updated racer inspired Monster Truck

me so sad

:(

Yes, agree with you. I'm a little disappointed. I think that a CR-02 could be the answer to scx10.I'm also sad for not seeing a Monster Beetle re-release...but if it has to be like the Blackfoot III, or the Mud Blaster II, well it's better we won't have it. The re-release of the Monster Beetle should use only the original chassis, maybe with the transmission of the king blackfoot.

Gotta admit, that's the part that made me take notice

^lol I thought that was a 1:10 RC until I realized it was carrying HUGE AA batteries. That would make a cool lunchbox body-set.

Not kidding, it would look even better with Wild Willy sitting inside, just as the VW Type2 Wheelie. Such an exxagerated bodyshell would make total sense as a Willy car. Is it just my eyes, or is the small triangle sign on the right side of the Wildsaurus showing a T-Rex spitting flames out of its mouth? badword yeah!

Mr Tamiya, you know you want to release this in 1/10!!

The batteries make the look of that car; I still think it would be cool if a 1:10 version had spaces for stick-packs or Li-Pos. I would also actually buy it if it was ever released in that scale!

Seems like we will be going full circle. It used to be the Mini would copy the 1/10, now the 1/10 would copy the Mini.

Unit what Tamiya could come up with the Mini at 1/10 scale, I would not say I would not go for it.

It could just be the blurry quality, but all of those actually look very good, the Aero Avante included! I am not sure how they made the DF-02 look so sleek...

@Kyosho1: thanks for sharing the news. :)

The DF-02 Aero Avante apparently has some strange guards at the main body's front. I wonder what they do.

The Fighter Buggy SV seems to have a regular Sand Viper lexan bodyshell & wing. However, it is sitting on the basic DT-02 chassis with fixed camber upper arms and the shocks are more looking like friction type shocks (look out for the screw top at the right front damper body). Just like the Super Fighter G kit or XB (RTR) Sand Viper. The rear tires look pretty bald to me, could be minipin tires as the TRF201, DN-01 Zahhak and DT-02 Nissan Titan. Front tires could be either minipin or ribbed.

In this form, the Fighter Buggy SV doesn't make any sense to me. I was at least hoping for a newly designed sturdy lexan body for careless bashing and the Fighter Cup championship or club racing.

EDIT: What's that body on the XV-01T Asuterion? Has it been carried over from the from the #58146 Chevy S-10? The front grille and general body style looks the same:

Aero Avante..

rising storm rear wing with Avanter style end plates (moulded as one piece)

extended bodyshell through the shock tower and some F1 style stand off aero plates behind the front wheels

Might be an interesting bodyset to replace my son's Rising Storm when the time comes.

Hmm. Super Fighter SV does indeed look like nothing more than a Sand Viper with a new sticker set - basically another Gravel Hound/Plasma Edge dodge. Chassis spec looks identical to the Super Fighter GR and Sand Viper XB, which isn't a bad thing for an entry-level basher as the fixed-length upper arms are good and tough. And if it comes with minipins for the rear, all the better.

The XV01T looks like a belt-drive rival to the TA02T. It also reminds me strongly of the TL01-based Stadium Raider. Again, not a bad thing - the Raider is a laugh to drive. I'm glad to see that this is the route Tamiya are taking with the XV01T, rather than trying to position it as a CC01 replacement. My only reservation is styling-related. I'm not sure I like the low-set bumper and exposed motor housing.

The Aero Avante is the biggest disappointment to me. It looks like my fears regarding the barge boards were not unfounded - they have made their way onto the 1/10 scale model, and they are huge! They look to be moulded out of ABS too, judging by their apparent thickness. I just hope that the whole shell isn't an ABS moulding, although I have a nasty feeling that it is.

Looking forward to seeing more pics and hearing more details!

Everything in those pics just looks samey to me. Recycled body shells on recycled chassis - looks like what's already in many showrooms. The XV01T is really the only newish thing and even so, they've just tarted it up to look like the TA02T.

Tamiya has officially "jumped the shark" with the Avante. What was once rare, high-tech and exciting, is now....mundane and cliche. Guess I should have seen it coming with all the mini-4wd Avante nonsense over the years.
