"Steering Assist" ... I imagined that it would be used on a 1:14 rig, but with the re-release of the Bruiser... Those and the tanks strike me as the only types of RC vehicles that would use an extra feature like this, though it would be interesting to see it incorporated into a smaller truck or buggy. The latter two probably do not need it, however.

My last guess would be some sort of unit related to the drift cars.

From the rumours I have heard, the TGU-01 is Tamiya's answer to the HPI DBox, basically a repurposed heli gyro that takes a lot of the skill out of drifting.

Just had a look at the pics of the carbon damper stays for the DT02. Unless there are more components to them than are shown in the pictures, I don't see how they can replace the stock plastic parts - there just isn't enough material. I wonder if they are meant to simply provide reinforcement to the stock parts?

Yes, I think so. There have been aluminium aftermarket reinforcements braces around, but for mounting them on the DT-02 chassis you needed to trim the bodyshell. The new carbon parts go where most of the cracks are occuring, but unlike the aftermarket parts they do not provide bracing from on tower top to the other top.

I have manged to break both front and rear towers in the past, but it wasn't due to weak material, but due to my own driving faults. The front tower base (not the tower tops itself) broke by ripping out a Holiday Buggy bodymount in a frontal impact (see here  ). The rear tower cracked once due to many, many rollovers, bad jump landings and a rear wing mount screw that had been repeatedly fastened way too tough into the tower. And that was on 12T brushless.

Thanks for your hint. I saw a similar brace at the DT-02 Nissan Titan. Is such a rod-and-ballends brace any benefit? I''m thinking of adding that to my car, too. But haven't seen them on many cars before.

I wonder what the silver cone shaped parts do at the rear carbon stay.

thats a strange assortment of parts..the alloy cones are normally used as spacers, but none of the bolts/screws look long enough to go through the carbon plate , the spacer and still have enough thread for a securing nut. I note they include the brass sleeve to slip into the damper eyelet.

It's possible the cone is threaded on the inside. though that would make for awkward assembly. Though it wouldn't be the 1st time Tamiya did that (Avante).

I think those goldy things may be some sort of track-widening device? It has the same slot-and-screw thing like the aluminum hex drives, so it has to be removeable for some reason.

I was thinking it might be a clamp-on weight to aid traction. Though typically you wouldn't want to add "unsprung weight", but who knows.

New Asterion XV-01T pictures:

Not very detailed boxart, but makes painting and decorating easy, so still fine for bashing. I'm not sure if I like the look of the motor. Good thing however is the improved ground clearance over the stock XV-01. Is this just by the size of the tires, or are the suspension arms longer?

Oh my god, the name, the shape and the chassis choice.

I suppose the increased ground clearance is due the bigger wheels.

Ugh.

I wonder how the XV01T will jump being so front heavy and with such a terrible approach angle. I know the TA03F has quite a bit of forward pitching over bumps and the first part of the chassis to hit the ground is always the bit of plastic under the motor.

I also notice the BF Goodrich is gone from the tyres and replaced with non licenced lettering. This is a shame.
