Word of this on Modelsport's Facebook page this morning but I've not seen it in the other usual places.

I hope it's a credible lead.

I'd like to see a glossy black shell that you don't need to paint (like the Street Rover) and black rims. That's my best guess as to what it might be...

Glossy black shell, chrome wheels a la Wild Willy 2 ??

Wouldn;t surprise me if its not an XB version. a red strip on the side and its A-Team van !!

Being serious here, what if they released an upgraded Lunchbox, with carbon fiber pieces, aluminum oil shocks, special edition body molded in black plastic, and colored rims? I'd be tempted to buy it!

The ultimate Lunchbox; this would be a very fitting way to commemorate this model. Being less optimistic, though, it is probably just a black shell and coloured wheels...

... and a box like the Avante Black Special! Would this also lead to pink wheels?

Might be just a black painted or molded shell with the regular decals, just like the Super Fighter G "Black Edition" that is exclusively sold by Conrad in Germany.

This is what I'd suspect. If there's nothing really different to the normal LB, I wouldn't buy it, as painting a LB and it's wheels black isn't much work...

We'll see, though!

Ooooooh, since I already have a lunchbox, I'm now interested in the Pumpkin Black Edition!

Still wonder what they will include to make it a special edition besides a black body. I guess that's all they did with the Buggy Champ... but usually "Black" issues are a little more special... We'll see...

Still wonder what they will include to make it a special edition besides a black body. I guess that's all they did with the Buggy Champ... but usually "Black" issues are a little more special... We'll see...

Well if it's a special addition , It may come with oil shocks ( alloy shock ? ) GT motor ? etc with black body & rims .

Also may come with bonus bearings "wow we " Not too sure !! May even came with a light kit ?? .

Inside of the shell looks white.... Really not sure about those photos. They're not the best. Reflection in the windscreen.

I am so loving this, and despite the fact that there are a zillion other kits on my wishlist this one has jumped to the front of the queue and I have pre-ordered one from Time Tunnel. I've actually already bought and sold two standard NIB Lunchies in the past as I didn't really get the fuss but after seeing them in action at the TC meet last month I finally understood the appeal.

Although the new colour is great it's the new box art on this Black Edition which has probably sealed the deal for me as I really appreciate it when they put that little extra effort into the presentation. Look forward to getting this in early November. :)

Look at photo 5. Looks like it's black inside there.

If there is a TC 2013 meet then I can see there being a lot of black boxes on the sarting line for the Lunchie racing :D

The release of a special edition is great news, not just for the kit but also the spares that come with it, i.e. black wheels and shell etc. I love the black wheels for Jun Watanabe Hornet and wonder why Tamiya never released black wheels before then? Glad they have now though...
