Hi, I am looking to replace the wellnuts on a vintage F-150 I have and was wondering if the wellnuts from the SS and BC re-re's are a match for the originals?

I thought I read in another thread somewhere that the re-re wellnuts are a slightly different size compared to vintage units, can't find that reference though.

Anyones help with this would be appreciated.

I think the re-re well nuts and the vintage pieces are different sizes; the re-re types are from a more-pliable rubber and a bit larger in diameter, I believe. But I did manage to fit vintage pieces onto my re-re Buggy Champ. The slightly-softer rubber should mean that even if the original radio box has smaller openings, it should still fit.

The re-re well nuts should be able to work!

I went to lowels. And i found them there under the speciality screws and hardware sections. Only cost 1.50 a piece.

I used a re-re on my rough rider restoration - it must be marginally smaller because it didn't grab the radio box like it should. When i got it fully tightened i could still pull the radio box upwards and off the well nut. I wasn't bothered about originality so i used some contact adhesive to glue the well nut into the recess first and its held fine ever since.

Thanks for the suggestion smegs.

We don't have Lowels over here, but I'll still give a couple of harware/plumbing supply places a try when I'm passing by ... never know what else you can find when you look in those sort of places. B)

Thanks Grastens and Percymon,

Wasn't sure if the re-re ones were smaller or not.

I've seen original wellnuts for sale on ebay, but they are always second hand and always look very well used.

By the way, here's the F150 I'm getting parts together for:

It's missing one wellnut, amongst other things.

The prices on ebay is starting to kill me. The prices are outrages. Starting to add up just as much as a new kit.

I guess it depends what you want. A whole new radio box, bodyset and various chassis parts does start to add to costs. Buying a few parts lots and then a couple of used hassis/cars is the cheapestr way often it you won't get a new built that way. Buying aftermarket lexan shells is another way to keep costs down. Ifyou source some new parts from hk/japan it saves a bit of money too.
