I am planning to waterproof my cc-01 Pajero, I was going to cheat and use a small plastic tub (like a small lunchbox) and put the electronics in that.... as for the servo, I think you can buy water-proof servos, or maybe run a bead of silicon sealer around the join on the top?

As far as I know, Traxxas makes waterproof servos and you can either buy a cheap Chinese waterproofed ESC or an Ansmann Sirius 12T waterproof unit for the ESC. Only the cheap Chinese ESC is 'cheap,' though...

If saving money is paramount, though: you can open up a servo, spray the internals with Fluid Film or a similar product and seal it with silicone. I am a bit wary of this method as I had lost a few electronics to water damage despite using this technique, though with enough preparation and caution you should be able to waterproof all of your electronics this way.

Mtronics do a nice ESC for around £20 that is waterproof (ECO 27, modelsport sell them). It's what I used in the tank that I drove through water that came up over the top of the hull. I like them because although they are rated at 27turns, you can use a 9.6V battery on that 27turn motor. It also has the advantage of being able to turn off the reverse delay, so that you can use full power reverse instantly when full back stick is used. Motors will generally still operate when submerged in water, as long it is not salt water. just be sure to lubricate the bearings in it well when you are done. If you have trouble with waterproofing the RX you could always attach it to the underside of the roof of the pajero with double sided tape. It's not waterproof, but it should be ok unless you are going to completely submerge the jeep. The old fashioned way to waterproof an RX was to put it inside a baloon, cable tie round the open end to hold all the wires tight, and then goop the hole with silicone sealer. As for the steering servo, you'll probably have to buy one waterproofed. I would not trust sealing the joins on the casing as water may still penetrate where the servo output shaft comes through the casing, and then migrate from the gearbox to motor and electronics.

I was in the pound shop recently and they had small tupperware type boxes (10 for a £1) perfect size for esc's and receivers, waterproof and easy to access if any water does leak in.

This if you can get small enough boxes. Traxxas do a receiver box that's fully waterproof and their servos are too, albeit pricey

I run a pair of Futaba S3014 waterproof servos in my CC01, and it survives regular dunkings with no probs. I use one in my model boat too. As for receiver and ESC, I use the tried and trusted balloon method and it works well. I put a small bag of dessicant in the balloon before sealing it, in order to trap any maisture that makes its way past the seal.
