Super Champ Rear Tires Question

I just received a Super Champ from a fellow Tamiyaclub member. I have a question regarding the rear tires. There is about a 1/32 inch hole in the tire. Its a perfect hole and was wondering why the hole is there? The tires seem pretty flat as a result.

The hole is there to breathe, yes its a factory fitment. []

Back in those days, punching holes in the tyres was a legitimate tuning move for those balloon buggy tyres. On those cars, the tyre was a better shock absorber than the chassis, and the 'flat' tyres gave better traction.

The early SC tires did not come with that hole.

I think the tires were modified with the Frog.

We(and everybody) make the holes to the 1/8 offroad tires and that is an must, othervise the tires want work great.

Uhoh... which means you authentically can't put Frog tyres on the SC?

I never saw boxed sets of 'Frog' tyres - the replacement tyres for the Frog were just the 'Super Champ' boxed tyres.

Possibly a change in the manufacture of the Super Champ tyres around the time the Frog was released?
