HI,

I've got a Stadium Blitzer and I want to do a new body for it, in a simple homage to the Fall Guy truck. I've found a gold ps spray that could go a close match for the side and bonnet stripe. However, I would really like to track down some metallic brown spray for the main body.

Anyone got any ideas where some can be purchased? My searches so far have come up empty! :-(

Hi Stevey,

Welcome to TC.

I'm afraid you can't really find the correct brown available anywhere. You will have to mix colors to finally get the desired effect.

By the way, I supose you have already seen this one? :

Anyway, It would be nice to see an homage to one of the greatest TV shows EVER, The Fall Guy!

Also, don't forget to share pictures of the truck ;)

Thanks for the reply Mongoose!

Yeah, I saw that one - looks fantastic. Think this may be more than just a spray can affair - may need to look into an air brush kit to effectively mix up some paint in order to get a good base coat.

As the new shell takes hold, I'll definitely get some picture up of it! Although, based on my current driving skills, I won't go totally scale on it as it won't be around forever! :(

Maybe if you contact the owner of the Fall Guy project truck in the link you might find some ideas. It is a different thing, as he is using a hard body (the ABS-bodied Clod Buster), but who knows.

Use Automotive paint . That way you can match the 1.1 perfectly . I use halfords brand ( uk ) but i'am sure you can kind similar rattle cans . As for the stickers - screenprintdigial do them .

If you want to stick to lexan paint in a rattle can then i think the only Tamiya option to get a dark brown would be a light coat of smoke followed by copper - it'd be rather hit n miss though as smoke isn't the easiest colour to spray evenly and any unevenness will just manifest itself as various tones of brown once the copper backing goes on.

Airbrush is the safest option me thinks

Does Halfords paint stick to the body? I thought it may flake off the inside of a plastic body. But then I suppose it needs to stick to plastic bumpers!

That may work! ??!

Not tried it on lexan - only hard bodies . If you want the Fall Guy look how about using a King Blackfoot shell or a Clodbuster ? Easy enough to mod either to look like a GMC .You could paint on the outside of the lexan if need be once you prime it - thats another option .

Should be easy enough . The only hard bit is mounting the body its self . You may need to drill some mounting holes and fill the originals - not hard to do with some epoxy . Its a question of fitting the new shell and seeing were the holes fall . The wheelbase is roughly the same so it might look ok . BTW i think Proline do a body thats close to the GMC longbed truck that was used on Fall Guy - google will bring their site up .http://prolineracing.com/bodies/1972-chevy-c-10-stampede-clear-body/

You can't use automotive paint on lexan if you want it to be a runner, it will come straight off as soon as you hit something. Automotive paint isn't plasticised, lexan paint is plasticised & also keys into the lexan..

Think you're gonna like this one. With some work anybody can turn a regular Clod Buster body into a GMC Fall Guy pick-up. If I had the money I know I'd try to do it myself.

Nice vid. Brings back happy memories of my childhood. Almost looked like a Tamiya promo film. Doesn't look like the trucks survived many front heavy landings though, I wonder how many they got through while filming.

If you watch some of the re runs carefully you can see that they even used more than one truck within the same episode . Bet GMC were loving the sales figures lol

Thanks for the comments guys!

I may at some point go for modding a pro-line or clodbuster body to fit (or buy one cheap on fleabay and see if I can resurrect it)

Been looking at some paints last night and think the following may work?

Spaz Stix Candy Golden Rootbeer (should it be backed in black or silver?)

Spaz Stix ultimate mirror chrome.

In the states they sell it in 'rattle can' on Spaz Stix uk site, only seems to be aerosol. Anyone know of a UK dealer that stocks aerosol?

The show itself had a run of five or six years. I believe GMC sponsored the series, and so they had plenty of trucks to destroy. And yes, it's been said that GMC had increased sales back in the early 80's due to the series, so it was good for everybody.

Anyway, one interesting thing about the truck is the fact that after destroying quite a few Sierras they started having the trucks customized for jumps. In the video you can see the ones that stood the landings much better, they had the engine installed in the middle of the chassis, a little more to the back, to balance the truck's weight for landings. Those GMCs that you can see from the second season on lasted much longer. Not to mention they started using stupid model trucks to cut down costs as it was a pretty expensive show to put on. You know every week you would get some huge Hollywood stars joining Colt, Jody & Howie (and yeah, Terri too) on their way to chase the bad guys!

I'm a huge fan of the series. The Fall Guy must really be one of the best TV series of the 80's. I have the first two seasons on DVD and plan to buy the next three ones if they ever become available.

Dang, the more I watch the series the more I feel like customizing some RC vehicle to look like this legendary truck!

Here's another one, done -apparently- with some TA-02 kind of chassis.

Myself, I believe a XC-01 chassis would be better than good to try this here customization:

By the way: some of the trucks they used in the Tv series are still alive and are in private hands now! I remember one of them was recently changing hands in an auction-platform (not sure if ebay or similar)

Just looking at the video clip put up by Kontemax you can see the axles had additional bracing fitted to the undeside of them, as well as serious ironmongery in the centre of the chassis (Perhaps this is where the engine was fitted. ?)

Exactly. That's where the engine was relocated.

By the way, the bracings on the axles they're the same the Toyota Bruiser appear with on the boxart drawing!
