Got these a while back

pin.JPG

Anyway, Disco was here the other day and pointed out that the pack shows a slot on the body pin, but it actually has a hole in it instead - Am I sitting on a goldmine - or not[;)]

There was a problem with one of the desiagns whereby the vibration would make the clip wear a hole in the top of the bdoy post. So Tamiya changed the design to give more material around the clip. I guess the "ring" type is the early type because it's pronted on the packet and the "hole" type is the modifies version because thats inside the packet.

I guess Tamiya did'nt see the need to reprint all the packet cards so left the picture with the old design.

Actually I should also say that I think all Rough Rider ( they were the earliset of these cars ) all had the "ring" type of fixing. It is only in the SS post you get 2 types. I think the Ranger posts all had the later type if fixing because the car was realest later, after the modification.

I am not too sure about all of this but I think it's the case.

[:D]Over to Mirarmar probably!!...LOL[:D]

Yep, bibbo's right, the oringal SS came with a slot in the body post (Mine has this), but eventually the top of the post will pop off, so tamiya then produced the design with the hole which was used on the later models.

On all mounting points... LOL [:P]

What puzzles me is that the RR bodypost doesn't suffer from the problem of 'the top popping off' where the SS bodypost old type HAS this problem? I know the SS bodyposts actually lengthens the RR one... is this extension of another (softer?) material as the base...? [?]

Twinset, you are sitting on a goldmine. Now step up from that unique and priceless Rietveldt chair, they don't sit very comfortable anyway... [;)]

I would assume the reason for the SS having problems with the clip design would be for 2 reasons:

1) It is longer, therefore you would get more movement.

2) Probably more of a reason wold be because the body is much bigger than the RR. I.E. it would weigh much more. Specially with all the chrome trim/glass and also the weight is carried higher.

Also, the RR one is protected by the shock 'towers'

Also the SS body kind of pushes up against the front mounting pin which may make the problem worse.
