I think you have nailed it there with the wheel, tyre and black cage combo - looks very neat and co-ordinated.

I take it you are still going to add another bit of piping to the back of the turbo? At the moment it appears to be an exhaust-fed device for blowing bugs off the windshield. :)

Thanks Nump.T,

I gave it a quick test & tune last night. The WW2 wheels seemed horribly unbalanced, when i spun the fronts with my finger they were wobbling everywhere, I fiddled around with it but put the blitzer tires back on as they spin beautifully + the lower profile helps with stability.

The Brushless settings needed a little tweak also, there was way too much drag brake which made it want to bring the rear around when I got off the throttle so put that to 0%. The punch setting was ridiculous so turned that to 1. Also put the timing to 0 and the steering rate to about 50% so its not so easy to over correct

Still need to sort out a proper sprung wheelie bar so it can transfer the weight a bit better.

All in all its still very hairy to drive and feels like a destructive roll over is any second away, doesn't go around corners, doesn't like overly rough terrain and I would never attempt to jump it but it does get out of the hole nicely and pulls very hard in straight line which i love

I will try to get the body finished and some action pics today hopefully.

Cheers,

Brenden.

Took willy for a burn today, the 5.5t is a total piglet on the 2s and the run times are pretty short.

Its seems to be running in quite nice. The drive train was very tight after assembly as I put tonnes of grease in there and O ringed every drive cup but it seems to be freeing up nicely.

The wheel tire combo is still unbalanced and it rattles like crazy at top speed, need to sort that somehow.

I getting curious just to try with a 3s...

A little bit of grease seeping through the crack

I got some nice slo-mo footage also, I just need to edit it.

Cheers

I am a sucker for a mean car that can really rip - excellent work! Glad you saw it all the way to running.

Could Anti-Wear Grease along the gearbox joins potentially keep the gearbox grease in? All I know is that it mostly keeps the dirt out...

Makes me want another one. When I was building mine back in 03, on a trip to the local craft store, I found some nearly 1/10 scale beer cans in the doll section. A little silicone to secure themto the floor and one in the hand of my non-willy driver made for my favorite rc detail yet.

That does look very good so far! The grease leakage looks authentic - the fullsize examples weren't known for their pristine undersides. Lookng forward to seeing what you do with the wheelie bar.

Spent some time trying to convince willy to try a 3S.

Little bit of shaving in the battery tray

Quite a bit from under the seat

IMAG0742_zps8b70fdd9.jpg

A little notch for the Battery cables

The 3s looks huge in there

Nice and snug

Willy did have to loose a limb though

The whole car is quite heavy now

Ready for another test, These wheels are much more stable at speed, the rears should be slicks pretty quick too :D

Yet to run with this set up. but with the 3s it just wants to accelerate forever :D , If the power is applied smoothly its quite drivable. but stopping it is another story  . If i just drop the throttle off it gets very tail happy and will veer off towards a gutter which is a bit of a scare when its still carrying lots of pace. I suppose the trick is to gradually de accelerate and have a huge space to stop.

It did suffer a mild roll when a wheel nut worked loose and the wheel slipped of the hex. Turbo went flying, light mesh guards went flying, grazed a rim, bent the coat hanger wheelie bar and lossed the top screw for the windshield.

I think if i can get it as low as possible and that little bit wider it should be solid.

What i really want is a 'scale' 10 second wild willy. so I suppose it needs to do 40 meters in 2.5 seconds
